It's Fine
A fairly bleak game. The puzzles are about the right difficulty for someone who hasn't played those kinds of games to death. Not overly obvious, but not hair wrenching either. The game should be a breeze for adventure games aficionados though. Unless you are hopeless with adventure games, it is short. Probably less than 5 hours of gameplay total. Less than 30 minutes once you know all the puzzle and are just speeding through the game. One nitpick I'll mention is that you have a bit of dialog choice towards the end, but if you want to explore it all, you'll need to play the game a couple of times from scratch (unless you figure out where your savegame is located and physically copy it), because there aren't multiple savegame slots. The game is short, but it is still somewhat annoying. The game conveys the mood of the plague in the medieval period well. I'm not qualified enough to nitpick on its historical accuracy, but it paints a picture that is believable for someone who read about it in high school. Some of the arcane medical treatments you perform in the game certainly add to the whole medieval feel of the game. The game is somewhat bleak (I've played 3 times to try different branches, but I don't think there is a "good" ending for this game) and the outlook of most of the characters you meet are rough. It's probably suitable for the period being portrayed, though I can't say I found any of the characters memorable even though the dialog was decent (but never witty). Overall, I think the game is worth playing for the time it lasts and the money it costs (especially if you like adventure games), but it is unlikely to provide a lasting memory. A quick believable taste of the middle ages at the time of the plague for the layman, some mild puzzles, a mildly (as you are unlikely to be too deeply invested in the story) depressing ending and onward to the next game without so much as a glance back.
