A somewhat okay horror game

The graphics are wonderful, the sounds, and the storytelling is pretty good! However, the problem comes in with the jumpscares. I only got scared once while playing the entire game. The tension and build up wasn't the best throughout it all which disappointed me. The jumpscares got very predictable after a while. The ending is up for your interpretation which left me baffled and gave me the wrong idea but that's probably because there's no indication of this being a tie in game to "The Secret World" MMO apparently. I'm a sucker for some spooky ambience and sounds but it ultimately ended up giving me a headache in the end. The company/creators of the game nor the description tells you that there is VERY BRIGHT FLASHING at all. If your a bright light or just light sensitive at all epileptic please do take this in consideration for your own safety. The flashes take place when you get on the steep sloped roller-coaster. Please update the warning section in the description at most.

Yes, it's short, but also...

...suffers from "stupid protagonist syndrome". The whole first half of the game is you searching a flashlight. While doing so you pass lanterns just sitting there on park benches around every corner, but you can't pick them up. Also, while searching for your kid, you're going on every ride possible. Like "yeah, let's waste as much time as possible". Things like that instantly destroy immersion, which is fatal for a game that builds on nothing but storytelling and immersive exploration. The park itself is ok-made, but very barren. The scenery is just empty and uninteresting. The swan-ride almost makes up a fifth of the entire playtime and there's nothing to see at all. The rest of the park is the same, for an exploration game there's just nothing to see and explore here. Also at no point there ever is a choice for the player as to where to go. The game has exactly one route and obstacles that keep you from ever diverting from it. The game is somewhat saved by the second half, once you enter the haunted house. Although everybody knows what's going on at that point, at least here they managed to make the game a tiny bit scary.

Little short

Firstly the game could have been longer by just adding some monologies. The main character should not have seen her slitted wrists. She could have just tended to do that - it would have had the same effect to the player. Joyride and listening the Hansel & Cretel story was frustrating and the boat should have been able to baddle fast till the end. The atmosphere im the parks rollercoaster and the ferris wheel was very close to perfect. It could have been made better in the wheel if she could have moved a little ad check to all the directions and maybe to have seen some creature thing or a bear down on the ground. By reflection of the mirrors in the dark house the girls eyes were white or so. They should have been black. (I had not full graphic settings on, but anyway). The main character should have not stabbed or tend to do so in the end. Maybe not. The game could have be made longer by adding more playing to the parking area. There could have been something. Maybe the car stolen? Overall the atmosphere was correct and somehow, if another version was made it should be continued to be so, but make it not redicilous/childish. The game was just on the edge to becoming childishaä and frustrating. (Part 2) could be made of the game just by changing the happenings on the same map. Maybe some quater of a square kilometer of map should be added. The dark house could be lit.

Could have been so much more

Before we begin, we have another title where I have a hard time calling it a game. There is literally nothing for you to do as the gamer. Your roll is to simply observe what the experience wishes to show you. And in this case, I have to commend them for knowing their limits. It's there just long enough to entertain you before rolling credits and leaving you to go about your day. Sadly though, it did not bring all that much to the table. If you like horror, you will enjoy it, but you will be glad it's over when it's over.

Ridiculously Underrated

This is a phenomenal walking simulator! Instantly became one of my favorites. I don't understand the mixed reception at all. There's atmosphere for days, a story that pays homage to the great Silent Hill 2, believable characters, and more than enough twists and turns to keep one entertained. It's all killer, no filler -- aside from a belabored retelling of Hanzel and Gretel. I hate being the guy who says "people just don't get it," but if you had that ending figured out immediately, I want to see the rest of your bingo card.
