Simple but good
Very entertaining game, the chips aren't easy to find, I would have preferred more weapons

it could be a great game
I hate giving this game such a low rating, but the things I don't like outweigh the things I do. I like the pace of the game, the action. The gunfights require some stealth, and I love that. However, there are some things that really drive me crazy. The menu beep sound is one of the most annoying sounds I've ever encountered in a game. You can't change some keys, like the Target Lock key. Some levels, the later ones, are extremely difficult. Enemies have a 99% hit scan. They're projectiles, but they're so fast that you have to do everything perfectly to finish the later levels. Sometimes you shoot at the enemy, and if your mouse points at them but isn't perfectly centered on their body, your shot is useless. The clearest example is when an enemy is in a corner or on the edge of a door. You have vision of their body, you aim at them, but your shot won't do anything. These and a few other things have driven me crazy, replay same level over and over, and over, which is why I'm giving it such a low rating.

Neat Homage, But...
A couple of QOL points and bugs turned me off of this. The gameplay is fairly fun but the aesthetics make it difficult to track with what's going on all the time. I appreciate being able to take multiple hits, but it slows the overall pace of the game down; where Hotline Miami was a whirlwind of bloodshed and near misses and repeated use of the R key, Detroit is a bit more of a creep. Somewhat like Intravenous but with all the imsim elements gone and goony AI that runs facefirst at gunfire and sometimes just sits on a couch until you mosey up and hit them with an axe. Hit a bug in a level where knock-downs and executions were encouraged where my legally distinct T-1000 would get stuck and force a reload of the level. This persisted. I stopped using melee. The cut scenes, which depict, accurately, the depravity of your bog standard tech bro and their callow little minions, play super slow, dialogue cannot be sped up, and you can only skip the entire scene. That alone would stick on another star if it were fixed. I actually was kind of into the story. It's dark as hell. A lot like Terminator: The First. Overall, neat homage, worth it on sale, but would be a lot better with a couple minor fixes.

pretty underwhelming
not quite the spiritual successor to hotline miami you might be looking for & the hud was a pain to deal with.

The Detgroit After
Its a simple and yet decently fun game. However Often your player character gets stuck after melee kills. This requires you to restart to the begining to the level if no enemies happen to be around to kill you and reset you to the last checkpoint.
