The Darkside Detective

This point&click adventure is filled with X-files spoofs, 4th-wall-breaking jokes and makes fun of point&click tropes. Its episodic structure is made for short sessions of 30-45min. It's not a hard one at all. Maybe some crazy LucasArts adventure logic from time to time but it's guided by some in-game hints. I got stuck a few times but the overall play time for all 6 cases + 3 bonus cases was around 8h. I'm kind of a completionist and really took my time redoing some cases to see if there was some different things to accomplish. Overall, recommended for new people to the genre and anyone who's looking for a stress-free and funny adventure.

I really enjoyed that game because of the classical "spooky and funny tone", such as in some X-files episodes (the "monster of the week" ones for instance) or smart episodes of Scooby Doo (or more recent reference: Gravity Falls). The riddles are extremely simple and will not be a real challenge (but still they're pleasant). If you accept this lack of real difficulty, you will be rewarded with around 10 delightful small episodes where you are involved (count 40 min max for each).

This brilliant little collection of mini mystery adventures seems to cram in elements of all my favourite TV shows, movies and books that I grew up with. I feel like they hit the nostalgia sweet spot here, old school point and click gameplay with beautiful pixel art and animation. Chuckle out loud humour that doesnt beat you over the head. The music is really pretty spectacular, and worth paying extra attention to, as it is otherwise something so easily overlooked in other games. It is easy, and it is quite short...but the simple enjoyment I experienced while playing this game was well worth the money I spent on it. I would really love to see more from this developer, so buy it now and support this under represented genre. So Good!!

Nice music, good jokes. Lots of characters that I loved to see. I'm looking forward to Season 2 (just donated a bit to make it happen).
