Randomness in lieu of a game
People complain about the dice in this game but the dice aren't the problem. The developers crammed as many sources of randomness they could into the game - random damaged modules, random hazards, random events between turns, random research cards - and crammed it with hidden or unexplained mechanics that affect the game (stress, teamwork) - with the end result being a game where you are getting batted around every turn like a windsock in a hurricane. You survive likewise: flap around for a while without much control and in the last turn you dive for the escape pod. I have won a single game in easy difficulty (1 crew member survived with the ship nearly destroyed) after a 12-loss streak where I didn't even have a prayer. Afterwards I lost another 5 games in a row where I'm all confused about why the previously winning strategy didn't even survive past turn 3. There is no obvious pattern - sometimes you just get a bunch of events in a row that drain hull or health and then you can't survive the big hit that will come around turn 6. There is no variety in gameplay: every game is the same thing and develops in roughly the same way. There is no character development, no narrative, the ship layout is always the same - heck, you even start with the same destroyed module from the tutorial. There isn't even some kind of "endless" mode. You get the 10-turn normal mode and a few short premade scenarios (that are for masochists). The game is also not a "casual" game - it is actually quite stressful. I've played roguelike and bullet hell games where I'm getting slaughtered and it is still less depressing than this game. Strongly recommend that you read a guide and learn a few strategies before diving it. Cannot recommend this - certainly not at €15. There are FAR better games than this out there for that kind of price.

Bad Luck
Others have already said it: the setting and style is pretty good but these random events and all the stuff around it makes it soooo random. I lost every game on easy up till now. I had a good start (just because of good dice values). But then: one guy rolls a lot of 6 and yeah 6 = injury => he dies. Next turn: you have only 3 guys and damage for full hull points (the whole bar was red). Values for repair: 27 etc. Impossible to win. Too much luck is included in this game. Think will not buy anything like this ever again. Makes no fun.

Short RNG-fest
It's highly unlikely that you'll win without playing tactically, so the game is definitely not devoid of skill, but even if you play optimally there's still a good chance you'll just lose due to shitty die-rolls. I beat the game in less than 2 hours with zero casualties, because I am very good at understanding systems and I simply got lucky with my die-rolls. And after I understood the optimal method of playing was there no longer was any reason for me to play. Any further play would simply come down to the luck of the dice deciding my outcome.

Hideously RNG
Some people will tell you that this is deeply strategic, that if you make smart decisions you can win most of the time whatever the dice come up as. This is a flat-out lie. You can and will be killed, repeatedly, by horrendous luck. You will send someone to handle a crisis that must be averted immediately. They have four or five dice available, and the crisis only requires 18 to resolve it - with a reroll you expect you'll have a pretty good chance to finish this crisis with just that one person, letting the others work on life support or rest in the medical bay. Instead you will roll three 2s, which just so happen to get voided in this crisis and so are discarded without any reroll. You will take care of one of the two crises currently imperiling your ship, only to have a really critical one show up *behind* the other crisis, which means you get to decide if you want to try to resolve both crises (probably impossible since your dice pools drain quickly, but if you've stockpiled food you might manage with exceptional luck) or send your best die pool astronauts through the lesser peril, taking damage so they can hopefully fix the other one. Your one and only bright point is that, having failed to heal someone because you didn't get doubles out of five results, you can at least fill your research bank and - if you happen to have something good show up - burn the fail dice for a last second save. This really does help a lot, but it can't save you if Tharsis decides to toss up seriously unwinnable conditions.
