Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon

Like most I came here in pursuit of this game.It was from fond memories of the past that this stuck with me over the years.Could this be as good as I truly remembered?.....It sure was. Easy to control menus,submersive very playable competent 3D interaction and acting from Charles Jones (Tex) that made you wonder why he didn't have a established Hollywood acting movie career... If you have ever played games like 'The Ripper' and '11th hour' you'll already have a feel for this which surpasses both in the fun and entertainment department.If you like these movie stylegame hybrids you can't go wrong with this.I just wish they're were alot more availiable now....hint hint...With the digital download market growing on the PC and Wii etc ,episodes of this and that appearing and, with this standard of script Tex Murphy could have a nice little niche to soon acquire alittle of that dough that had always alluded him under that killing moon.....

I've been waiting so long to be able to play this great game again! This is the game that introduced me to the adventure game genre. Until then, I didn't really like VG's as they were mostly shooters, which I've never been very good at or interested in. UAKM has a great story and engaging characters. One of the things that I've never quite found again in the Adventure genre is the multiple responses during interactions with other characters. Also, the responses that don't spell out exactly what you're going to say, it's much more fun and surprising, that way. It was one of the things that hooked me on Tex in the first place! I also love that Tex has something to say about almost every object in the game.

This game was awesome in '95, it's still fun to play now. I used to think through all the memorable scenes in my head and now finally thanks be to gog, I can actually play them again. woo hoo!

What you have here is a fantastic piece of games developer engineering that has etched its way into history as one of the most memorable adventures. Through amazingly advanced graphics (for the era), a deep story, with incredibly hilarious and witty humour, Access Software deliver the title that is "Under a Killing Moon". This game is a fantastic first person interactive adventure, set in San Francisco in 2042 AD, when the world has become a post apocalyptic and bleak place to live. You are Tex Murphy, PI and DI (Private Investigator and Dance Instructor), and looking for work. Not expecting to get much more work than finding someones lost puppy, Tex winds up traveling the country, and even ending up on the giant cultist Moonchild floating away in space. Facing extreme danger with manly pleading, Tex lucks his way through a barrage of hilarious and interesting situations with the witty humour that makes Tex, Tex. If you have never played the game, it might take some getting used to, but I guarantee this game will keep you immersed and wanting more for hours. The enormous game was on 4 cds for the time, and guarantees plenty of play time to figure things out (unless you use a walkthrough). Five stars for this amazing game.

I remember taking a tour of the Access Software studios here in Salt Lake, back when they were still around - the Guy who played Tex Murphy - Chris Jones I think was his name - came and said hi to us. To me and my friends who were all psycho fans of this series it was quite awesome. I'll never forget his words of wisdom - "takin' a little tour of the office are ya?" - OK so maybe it wasn't like running into a big movie star...but it was special - just like these games. You won't be disappointed. I still have all these on disk and I'm re-buying them just so I don't have to mess with DOSBOX to play them.
