System Shock

Glad I never played ss1, graphics were kind of outdated. Now able to enjoy fantastic classic with remade graphics

I was awaiting for this game to be released, so as soon as GOG notified me of its availability I started making the clock tick until I could start it. Let's start from the intro. Beautifully done, allows even for a small sort of tutorial in the Hacker's flat. It makes the intro part of the game something more interactive and hints a little what the fuss is all about. I found the graphics with their slightly pixelated style a nice retro touch for all those like me that have a thing for indie games dripping with pixels all around. :D Anyway, onward. The atmosphere is exactly the same as the original one, at the moment that someone steps into Citadel Station and its gloomy corridors one begins to wander cautiosly, afraid of what might be lurking right behind every corner. True that the enemies aren't exactly impossible to kill, but I found that they also have a good intelligence and react accordingly to what the player is making. SHODAN is omnipresent, and that has been the key of its success as a villain in the original games. I have to admit that twarthing her plans step by step and hear all her threats and rage outbreaks makes her somewhat 'real' The music is where this game really makes a huge step ahead. Not only it's dynamic but it's also very well written and adds that touch of paranoia while crawling through the Station's corridors. Definitely worth buying, you won't regret it. Oh and, check out the original game as well. ;)

Updated UI, Graphics and audio. Definitely one the best modernized introductions to 90s PC Gaming and a visually stunning look at a classic that inspired highly acclaimed and popular games like Dead Space and Bioshock. One the least accessible remakes to come out though as it stays loyal to the original gameplay. Luckily there are many guides and walkthroughs online that help new players get through the game, but players that are photosensitive or color blind will not be able to enjoy it at all. This is one hell of an addition to the spate of remakes in modern gaming.

Jeder der das Original kennt wird das Remake sofort lieben. Ist das Original noch zu hell kommt hier richtig Hoororstimmung auf. Alles ist schön düster, aber überall leuchtet irgendwas technisches.. das Artdesign ist wirklich gelungen: Man hat wirklich das Gefühl alleine auf dieser Station zu sein. Das Spiel ist im Großen und Ganzen dem Original treu geblieben vom Ablauf. Die größte Schwäche ist da es keine Questmarker gibt, das könnte Neulinge abschrecken. Einen kleinen Kritikpunkt habe ich: Das Inventar des Cargolifts ist zu klein, man kann gerade so eine Waffe deponieren, es ist wirlich doof das man manche Waffen einfach liegen lassen muss. Ansonsten bleibt mir nur eines zu sagen: BITTE MIT DER GLEICHE LIEBE UND SORGFALT EIN REMAKE VOM ZWEITEN TEIL MACHEN. BITTE BITTE BITTE.

I loved navigating the maze of a station and using the different guns and stims to deal with Shodan's monsters. Love the direction they went for the art style. cyberspace sucks but that's okay
