Still the gold standard
14 years after it first released, SWAT 4 is still as amazing as ever. A must play.

Excellent!!!
Has aged well. Runs perfectly in Windows 10. In career/campaign mode, you'll run accross missions that are 'timed', such as having to defuse several bombs in a building. Only problem is that even if you do well, you may not have enough points to progress to next mission. That can be irritating - so, if you tire of the career/campaign mode, there is Quick Mission Maker! You can easily and simply choose any map/scenario and customize difficulty and number of hostages and bad guys and play however you want. High replayability. This game also offers CO-OP mode which is an important feature of current/newer games such as Fallout, Wildlands, Witcher series and others. The only thing missing, for me, is multiplayer modes like TDM and CTF with bots to fill out teams or for solo play like in CSGO or Unreal Tournament.

A Great Tactical Shooter
*Features a Campaign, solo and co-op. *Multiplayer PvP and a custom match mode. The multiplayer requires an outside patch, although I only used Hamatchi for co-op. *Gold edition includes new maps, expanding on the twelve or so base-game levels. The dlc also adds some new gadgets and weapons. *Runs fine on my Windows 10 (probably thanks to that GOG magic). If you have not played a SWAT game before, go on, treat yourself! If you're looking for a challenge, whack it on Elite difficulty and only use non-leathal equipment. I have not played SWAT 3 yet so I cannot compare the two. However I hear they are both held in high regard. - Cheers.

Woop Woop, thats the sound of the beast
Tactical FPS games have a root starting point and SWAT 4 is that starting point, around the same time Rainbow Six started to huff paint thinner and bore cleaner and keep inventing reasons for terrorists to attack Vegas, Sierra walked in, plopped SWAT 4 down in it's police brutality glory and walked back out. A game where every door breech means either mild disappointment or a firefight with some goon with a TEC-9. SWAT 4 is a tactical FPS game about running a 5 man SWAT team through a variety of incredibly tense scenarios with an emphasis on not being CoD. Guns are pretty much terrible outside of semi, you will lose points for just gunning everything down, you have to actually try to detain people albeit the limits of which are stretched to "yeah just tase that guy, his heart can take it." The game comes into its own with levels as well, you start with boring stuff like "detain an illegal gunsmith" before getting a 180 and having a "detain a serial killer before he kills his next victim" or "deal with a cult" and so on and so on. The game keeps you ramped up. And the only issue I could give the game is the AI levels vary pretty hard. Your team are fairly good at following orders but the enemy are just weird. You can shoot a guy with a few 9mm JHP's, he slinks into a corner and despite 4 other officers standing in front of him, he still goes down in a blaze of glory for no reason. But that's the only thing I could burn this game on, everything else is still gold. Take down armed robbers with a paintball gun that shoots pepper spray, convince yourself that the civilian you just shot a 40mm baton round with deserved it, it's nail biting fun.

My favorite tactical shooter of all time
I met this game at an Internet café first, then I became an addict. I spend a lot of time in custom mission maker. My dad helped me to change stuff like the morale of suspects and equipment of swat members. It was fun until the game disappeared from online stores. I checked the internet for info when learned that SWAT 4 was no longer available on the internet. Then years passed I grew up and someday I saw SWAT 4 here. I bought it instantly. It's the best tactical shooter ever made and it is also very detailed. Every action has consequences. You have to decide how to approach to suspects and civillians. Using unnecessary lethal force will lose your points. So, your first goal must be to bring order to chaos, not just shooting bad people with guns. Some suspects have higher morale and that's a bad thing, they will not listen to you. You must use non-lethal stuff like pepper spray or a taser. Like I said, the game has lots of small details that will change the gameplay. Also, every level has a different atmosphere and plot, sometimes you have to face inexperienced robbers with small weapons but sometimes you will face a highly trained terrorist group. It's a good tactical shooter where you must act carefully.
