I died... In so many ways XD

So, a Lovecraftian dating sim, I knew I need to witness this. Quickly about the tags: Story Rich, 2D, Horror, Point&Click, Choices Matter, Visual Novel - Yes sir. Sexual Content - The degenerates were holding hands and smooching! (and yes, that's dissapointing ;P) Multiple Endings, Psychological Horror, Romance, Dating Sim, Lovecraftian - Yes sir. And I'd add a dark(sometimes!) comedy. Now, for subjective opinion: I nearly bust my gut laughing. Serious. I strongly recommend trying all endings, even the hard one in Aunt Nyan Nyan route. It was a wonderfull experience (it's a horror so sometimes a bit morbid as well). The art reminds me of anime I watched in my childhood (90s) and soundtrack also has that wacky vibe (which makes for a stark contrast for more... violent scenes). I liked VA, especially Estir part. Gold (no pun intended). Also the first game on GOG that mede me actually take my time to write a review... Still reading? Go on. Play it!

Moe moe ky'ün

Pros: - Lovecraftian horror/humor - overall presentation, 90s anime vibes - great music, OST included in root folder - great SFX - decent English voice acting Cons: - casting chants sometimes frustrating, unclear speed required - punishing requirements in 2nd chapter, made replaying unfun - some requirements missing in final chapter - some bugs - some interactive labels missing/buggy - some sprites felt less polished compared to others - short, ~5 hours to 100% Sucker For Love is a hybrid dating sim x visual novel. You play a male pursuing one of three female love interests. There are multiple routes and endings. Lots to love for fans of Lovecraft. Usually I'm skeptical of Lovecraftian parodies, especially ones that also parody moe culture, as they rarely do either genre justice and stay surface level in their references. I'm happy to report Sucker For Love isn't one of those! It's an excellent homage to both Lovecraft's work, and dating sims that it draws inspiration from. This is a comedy by a wide margin, horror second, and romance last. The humor was on-point. The characters were written well, their backstories and intentions are direct references to their source material. I enjoyed the twists and darker sides to the story. Great build up of tension, without relying on jump scares. The multiple endings were fun to discover, though the second chapter was a slog to unlock them all. Unfortunately there were some graphical bugs that broke immersion, such as a love interest disappearing if you leave and then re-enter the room. There were rare bugs that affected gameplay. And a few gameplay things were unpolished (unclear casting requirements, no indication for returning an object after picking it up) or overly demanding (chapter 2). Nothing deal breaking, just annoying. Otherwise, it's a great title, and I highly recommend it for fans of both Lovecraft's work and dating sims!

Surprisingly good

I bought the game because of the Lovecraftian theme and the gorgeous art however I got way more fun out of it than I was expecting. Sure I was ready for a short burst of comic relief title but honestly the ritual mechanic while it seems simple at first glance provides so much needed interaction with the player in the visual novel that I'm just dumbfunded noone did this before... Also I loved how the game is practically centered around the ritual feature but it's constantly expanded til you get an actual challenging endgame around it. Visual Novels tend to bore me after a while but this one is creative, fun and over the top hilarious. Not to mention the art is incredible, the voice acting is way better than it has any right to be in an indie and the music is great. A charming little pack of genius on my opinion. Gonna be on the look out for more from this dev.
