Stonekeep

A fun but tedious dungeon crawl. By the end of the game you will have defeated a veritable planet full of denizens. It does give a sense of perspective in that you will encounter the tail of a dragon in one location on a map and come face to face with the owner of the tail at another location. Some enemies go toe to toe with you while others run around, forcing you to chase them.

I put several hours into this game back when it was fairly new. It was fun for quite a while, but the tedium wore on me after a while. Maybe I just kept missing stuff, but it seemed like there was a lot of backtracking without anything to make it feel fresh and fun.

Stonekeep is a great game, but it's probably one of the most complicated and difficult games to play successfully. This isn't one of your hand-holding, namby-pamby, wussy games...Stonekeep is brutal and unforgiving, with puzzles that don't simply lead you down that path to insanity...they drag you kicking and screming to the edge, then toss you over. Definitely a case where you absolutely want to get the Stonekeep Strategy Guide.

Played this game long time ago....unique game interface, great sounds and graphics (digitalization). One on the "wooow" efect game in 95´, it´s a classic Dungeon and I mean DUNGEON(rpg is not quite correct .p) Great gothic atmosphere, great effect . Oldschool dungeon gamers must love this game. Its the dungeons GOD!! Wahoookaaaa :o) ps: hope the complete UFO (X-com) strategy saga will be there soon :p

But even then, I'd still like to play Stonekeep. Okay, so it's not Ultima Underworld or System Shock, but it's still one of the better (and funnier) RPG's. Play it and decide for yourself: Maybe you too would rather be a dwarf.
