Couldn't get into it.
The whole experience felt pretty flat to me. This is a light-hearted and humorous base builder with some combat thrown in. Unfortunately, the Douglas Adams style comedy just didn't have that Douglas Adams genius and although I cracked a smile here and there, I think it mostly missed the mark. The pacing is slow at times and I found the interface to be disjointed and clunky, especially when hiring aliens. There is almost nothing provided in the way of in game descriptions of what the various items and buildings do for your visitors (Sick Bay is obvious enough, but how about the Dispenser?) Some of the items that you can place within buildings don't seem to have any purpose at all. The game manual is no help here either. Aside from the space port segments that constrict you from expanding until you've unlocked them, the whole space setting seemed to be just a skin and any other setting would have worked just as well. Or maybe I just didn't play far enough into the game. The best games I've ever played are inexplicably more than the sum of their parts. In my opinion, Startopia does not belong in that category.
Hilft dir das weiter?
