STAR WARS™ Battlefront (Classic, 2004)

This is an excellent game and I really like it. I stich three screens together and had an issue with the resolution of the game as the in game menu will not allow you to change this, the fix I found however was: Open the game folder, open folder 'GameData', right click on the application 'Battlefront', select the 'Compatibility' tab and put a tick in the 'Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution', press 'Apply' and run the game. When you run the game, change the resolution, save and exit the game to the desktop. Re-open the 'GameData' folder, right click on the 'application 'Battlefront', select the 'Compatibility' tab and UN-TICK the 'Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution', press 'Apply' and run the game.

First and foremost: I recommend this game. If you like Star Wars, you will feel right at home. Do I recommend it over its sequel though? This is where it becomes difficult. The first Battlefront has two great campaigns, which are much better than the ones in the second, in my opinion. Also the maps are much better designed and look much cooler. Also the galactic conquest is much more fun in this one. However, Battlefront II not only looks better, it also feels better, plays better, has space battles and with the right mods I can get all the content from the first game and more. I think it is great for completing the campaigns, but for everything else, stick with the second. Already have the second and want to try it out? Yes, do it like me, play through the campaigns, some galactic conquests, but at the end of the day, go back to the second one for more longevity.

The only thing i wish this game had was space battles like the second one has. This is an absolute classic and so much fun. The ground battles are just fun. I like the differences between the factions and I think it provides a lot of variety and still seems balanced. It was an awesome way at the time of release to bring in the new trilogy with the original. It was a lot of fun to be on Naboo with the rebel/empire and and to be on Bespin with cis/clones. Classic maps too. Sure some modern games are better now but this game still holds up. What an amazing title. So glad to see it here since my old x box is toast.

First, as an owner of an original physical copy of this game, I just want to say that it's incredible GOG has acquired the rights to have a digital version now available. GOG is rapidly outperforming Steam in their dedication to adapting old games to new ahrdware and mediums. Next, the game itself is an old-school masterpiece. I remember being in 5th grade when this game came out. After endless, tiresome waves of Jedi and fighter pilot fantasies in Star Wars games, we fans of the movies could finally answer the question: "yeah but what if we could play as a Stormtrooper?". This game blew my mind. Today, I go back to play this title and am simply astounded by the mountains of content it offers. Dozens of maps and faction-specific vehicles (not always balanced, but that forces you to get creative) and positively tireless attention to detail from the movies. Factions have unique units and each class has a rigid loadout that you must adapt to in able to maximize your effect on the battlefield. The maps are wide-open and present numerous options to fight in. The only limit is your creativity. Honestly, I find this game to be superior to 2005's somewhat-rushed Battlefront 2. EA's pale abortions won't even be spoken of here. Star Wars: Battlefront hearkens back to a time when video games were made by the passionate, for the grateful and Star Wars was still about a galaxy far, far away instead of profits and modern political agendas. Step into this game and let the simpler times wash over you.

The yin comes to the Yang. I really hoped to see the first game here on GOG, and finaly my Wish was granted. But enough of that, Lets talk about the Game. Well, there is actualy not so much to talk about, because its basicaly Battlefield set in the Star Wars-Universe. You can run around as one of five (i gues) different Classes, shooting enemys and taking spawnpoints, you can hop in a Vehicle and try to blow things up.... you have the Ticket-Counter on the upper Side of the screen in the Middle, which tells you ho is dominating the Battle, and all in all, this appears to be a worthy Battlefield-Clone, which i enjoyed in my Youth to the MAX: So if you like EAs Battlefield-Series and the Star Wars-Series, you should definately get this Game. maybe even its Follow-up Game, but for Gods Sake, stay away from the next-Gen-Battlefronts. You know why....
