Deeply flawed game
Developers had a great idea- RPG nad RTS mixes very well together. There are missions, where you fight through with just your team, and it plays almost like Baldur's Gate. And there are missions, where you get workers, base, you train units and your heroes are just a part of a bigger army. The idea was great, but it was served with too much boredom sauce. It's astonishing how they managed to make the best part of this mix boring. Items feel like busy work. You're constantly bombarded with what seems like randomly generated loot, with magic options that doesn't do anything in most cases. But you have to spend time sorting through it and equipping them from time to time- if you don't want your heroes to fall behind in stats. It feels more like sorting stuff in Excel, than getting new shiny toys. Quests are also mostly boring. One of them requires you to walk all over the map with a metal detector to find 10 geodes. And it's very easy to miss a spot where geode may be, so you have to walk all over the area again. Entire quest which promes is just walking around the area! And don't hope for a story- there isn't any. Sure there's something about dragon blood, and traitors, and saving your town, but it doesn't make much sense in best of times, and it's typical and boring at all times. Characters are non existent, they are just units in your small army. The missions also in most cases are boring. The enemy opponent often cheats, by spawning infinite units for free. So most missions just boil down to a slug, as you fight your way through wave after wave of units, until you get to enemy base, and finally stop it. One mission in the undead town is about one hour slog of killing the same undead opponents for way too long. Also the game tried to make a card mini game, but implemented it in the most boring way possible- through a dialogue screen. Some of the problems could be fix if you could just speed up time- like in other RTS games. And there are also some bizarre things like resetting your resources every time you leave the map, that make no sense, and could be easy fixed. But they didn't. So if you crave for a RPG, RTS mix, be ready to be bored a lot in this one.
Hilft dir das weiter?
