Nerve-wracking
You are crawling through the ruined remnants of a bombed out building, stricking to the walls and attempting to be as silent as possible. Finally, after minutes of searching, you find an enemy trooper. He has not noticed you. Unfortunately, you have not noticed the rest of his unit either. So as you squeeze the trigger, the sound of thunder gives away your position. It is now a race to sinking back into the shadows before you are killed... Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945 is a game just as much about patience as it is about skill. It is necessary to be mindful of your surroundings and take care with each move you make. Unfortuantely, the premise itself is enough to turn down some gamers looking for quick thrills, as this game is all about the satisfaction of landing perfect shots, using only the limited ammunition availible. The graphics are serviceable, with special mention to the bullet-time close-up sequences of managing a headshot and seeing all the resulting explosion. In fact, most of the parts making up the game are definately middle-of-the-road as this was a multiplatform titles released at the end of last generation consoles' life cycle. In the end, the enjoyment you get out of the game is directly linked to your interest in the premise and subject matter. If you are a patient person who can forgive some nagging issues with the game - as other reviewers have mentioned - this will be right up your alley. Otherwise, if you are looking to brandish a minigun and mow down scores of cannon fodder, why not give Serious Sam a try? Either way, this is a game for few but, for those, their prayers have been answered.
