SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

I always loved SimCity and SC2000 was the absolute best of the bunch, so I was really looking forward to getting to grips with it after so many years..... ... However. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if there is a fault with it running on my system (vista) but I cannot, for the life of me, get a city to develop... After naming a city I place a power station, industrial zone, and a couple of roads and I wait... And wait... And wait... And wait... With absolutely nothing happening. I will have another go later but I can see it being a permanent problem....

This is the game I have probably sunk more time into than any other game ever. This includes all RPGs and most fighting games. I'm talking thousands of hours. The sequels never dragged me in like this one. Truly glad to see this game added with the likes of Alpha Centauri (another time sink), Master of Orion 2 and Privateer. If you're looking for something to eat your time, look no further.

while i didnt get this game from GOG, i recently found my still working copy, oh the times it brought back, from trying to get my city to run, to getting fed up and causing wide spread disaster

Excellent game, needs no introduction. Another thing of note is that this is version with WillTV... the videos with Will Wright discussing maxis at that point in time such a trip down memory lane!

I really hate to pee on GOG's bonfire but this game is a freebie on Origin. The game itself is what I and I guess most other people call a "God Game". You build your city and then proceed to try to run it as efficiently as you possibly can. Taking care to not cause any environmental hazards whilst caring for your population of residents and furbishing them with their every need. I'm always finding that I build this beautiful city but no matter what I do, I inexplicably lose money and I end up totally bankrupt. Other people may get on okay with this game but I just couldn't figure it out. You might like it but not for me.
