SimCity™ 2000 Special Edition

So far, I have not experienced a disappointment when revisiting an old game from the past. Unfortunately, coming back to SimCity 2000 after almost 20 years was my first such experience. I remember it being a very good game, not excellent, but I have enjoyed building, destroying and managing cities in this game. Playing it now was really painful for me, because I was quite excited to play it once more after all these years. The interface is very clunky, I have miss-clicked and destroyed power plants, the colours went full rainbow after alt-tabbing and the game itself got quite unpleasanat overall. It makes me sad that I have good memories of playing it and I could not enjoy it as much as I would like to.

Excellent city builder/planner but there are much, much better alternatives now.

This is the best city builder after SimCity 3000.

I grew up playing this game in rotation with Command & Conquer and TIE Fighter as a kid. I've spent many many hours getting lost in this game and it still holds up very well today. The pixel art is beautiful and the overall aesthetic just screams mid-90s PC gaming. Very comfy. I don't get the people who are leaving 1 star reviews, just because they prefer the Windows 95 version over the DOS version. It's the exact same game. The pixels aren't quite as sharp in the DOS version, but this is barely noticable. Just play it. It was definitely worth the 1.49 I spent.

I've read this issue from others as well: Citizens are not moving in, population remains 0 although electricity, water is in, I have roads, etc. I did everything like in old times. (Win 10)
