Oh wait, it isn't a sequel. I almost forgot. It was actually released in 1999 yet its source material hasn't aged one bit. Still avant-garde with many features that modern and similar Civ games fail to implement. A spectral rainbow of possibilities in comparison to a modern grey bland monochrome tone of modern "streamlined" strategy titles struggling to create something unique. If you want a futuristic approach to a civilisation building turn based strategy game, you don't have many alternatives that offer you ample background and include modern political and global dilemma. Ganted graphics are dated, but to quote a famous Publisher: "30fps are better than 60fps anyway."

I actually have both disks for the original games (Mac) but I had to buy this copy out of frustration as I never have the disk on hand when I want to play. I've been playing this game at least once a year for the last decade and I was happy to see they did a good job with the patches. Moving to OS X with this game was a somewhat buggy experience before, but they've smoothed out the more irksome issues. The only downside is the screen scales oddly at times (when it cuts for videos), the sound effects are different, and the action occurs so fast at times it's easy to miss what happened.

I have Mac Mini Core 2 Duo with 2GB of ram and it ran great. Was just as addicting as it was years ago. Was worried it might not work, but considering didn't get to bed till 3am last night I'd say it is working great. One of the best "Civ" games ever. Even after all these years the graphics and gameplay don't feel old. This is a true treasure GOG has made available again.

Have been playing a lot but periodic crashes of PC interface occur which a reboot would fix. Has finally crashed and reboot doesn't fix

One of those genre defining games. No other game has come quick close to getting close to the bar this game set
