Great Duke Nukem Alternative
If you like Duke 3D then you'll transition quite comfortably to this. Similar to Duke 3D it includes crude one-liners, a wide variety of weaponry and good enemy design. Plus this version runs on modern hardware with a good amount of options as well as hi-res HUD. Too bad Duke 3D is no longer available here. Go and upvote the GOG wish page for Duke to get him back.

Graphical issues and crashes
A GoG game should run out of the box, and all of them have done so so far. Shadow Warrior Redux needs some manual tweaking before it will run properly (Windows 10, 9700K, GTX 1080, 3x 27" in Nvidia Surround, 100 FPS GPU lock, no V-sync). What I did to make the game run (else it would instantly crash when loading a map): When game is installed, right-click on the shortcut and add: -windowmode ...to the Target path. Then go to the Compatibility-tab: Check "Run this program in..." and select "Windows 7". Also check "Disable fullscreen optimization". Other issues: The SFX-volume is MUCH louder in some places, regardless of the ingame audio settings. Like opening doors randomly makes the speakers really scream. I haven't played Shadow Warrior since my Windows 98 PC, as my DOS-box attempts were met with little success. Compared to Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior is way harder, and I found myself required to quick-save / quick-load surprisingly often, even on the first couple levels. It was a thrilling experience. If you want the TRUE ninja sensation (and you have a 17" CRT laying around), go with the DOS-box version. If not, then the Redux is much more suited for modern hardware and monitors.

Absturzsimulator
Im Menü ist das Bild beim starten immer Abgeschnitten. 16:9 Bild auf 21:9 Monitor mit schwarzen Balken an den Seiten. Erst bei wahl irgend einer Auflösung wird es korrekt dargestellt. Beim starten eines neuen Spiels gibt es ständig einen Crash to Dektop. Keine Auflösung funktioniert. Keine Abhilfe im Forum funktioniert! (alte DirectX Versionen) Somit leider Softwaremüll und rausgeschmissenen Geld. Danke GoG!

Great game with constant crashes
Someone at GOG should play the games before they are released. This game is brilliant but this "Classic Redux" Version is constantly crashing. Quicksave -> crash. Quickload -> crash. Alt+Tab into windows -> freeze and crash. Extremely buggy version

It is good IF YOU like the genre!!!
The game is in the same genre as Doom, (Quake), Duke Nukem 3D, Redneck Rampage, Blood and Ion Fury. Other games which are newer are Dusk and Amid Evil. The game has weird issues with OpenGL rendering compared to the DOS port which makes mines invisible and some things display in a weird way. The game natively ran at 85Hz which should be a target for best enjoyment. All issues and fixes known are listed on the PCGamingWiki so just google it if you want a better gameplay. Don't write a review about a game if you are not the target just for the sake of ranting and showing everyone how egoistic you are. Shadow Warrior is a game that is one of the more realistic Build engine games. Duke Nukem 3D lacks a lot of detail. The first two Episodes are fine of which the first plays in LA and the later in Space. Blood is the best and has the most content imo. Great guns and the most impressive areas. Fresh Supply added a lot of modern features to be easier to play because I hate DOS Box when things are not setup. Shadow Warrior can be the hardest game in the Build Engine series due to ambushes, general level design and the-most-use of weapons meant to be used specifically for defeating certain enemies like Zombies with explosives which turn into ghost when not blown up .... SW is the high point of the oldschool 2.5D shooters when it is about evading enemies, tactically killing 'em and using specific tactics and weapons to defeat your nightmare. Doom 1 and 2 offers this too but it is less forced same as Duke Nukem 3D. Blood on the other hand needs the right weapons or you get overwhelmed quickly by missing ammo for your trash mob weapons. I dont even want to talk about Rise of the Triad which is breaking the Geneva Convention for pure torture! TLDR This is a (tactical) oldschool shooter in the 2.5D sub-genre which aims to create impressive maps with (necessary )secrets to get through levels with minimal story. Serious Sam and modern Doom are modern/different.
