Rare for me to say this...

But if you like story, nuance and depth.. This is something you seriously need to try. It's a demo (I have the full version, and though it's still incomplete story wise, what there is on it I still consider great value for the money I shelled out for it as is), so you're not spending cash to look at it. You are investing perhaps an hour of your time to look into it. Bear in mind, it's a taster of the story, the first chapter. But the game design itself is phenomenal, the artwork compelling, the music is a delight. Even more astounding, it's a single dev game, which manages, in my eyes at least, to beat the AAA titles of today hands down in depth. But, don't let me sell you on it based on my opinion. Look for yourselves. Make your own mind up (and maybe use a motivation point). :)

Quit at Character Creation

As soon as you start talking about optimal builds and having to make choices based on what will be most advantageous, you are NOT an RPG. This is a game for power-gamers. RPGs are all about conceptualizing a character and playing it true to its conception, not making choices based off of what gives you the best advantage. So, I do NOT recommend this to the RPGers out there.

Good idea, horrible presentation

Text adventure which explores mental state of its protagonist seems like a interesting idea, but I cannot understand why would creatos chose uncanny 3D models as the main visual element. Replace them with just some concept stills, pixel ar or just abstract shaapes in aumunal colors, and the game would be better for it.

Not my game but fascinating

This was my very first attempt at a "visual novel". This demo was definitely worth trying. The graphics are wonderful, the explanations are clear and concise, the game handling (menu, mouse movement, and so on) is good and easy to use even for me bloody newbie, the story is thrilling and well implemented. The logic of actions and consequences is compelling. Just sad that this is not my kind of game. If this were a pure fantasy setting (like in The Witcher), I would love it. My interest in history is stilled by books, movies, History Channel, or similar media, not by games in historic settings. This is something personal: my - not really big - knowledge of actual history is keeping me from making choices on my own, I too often found myself pondering my choices against actual history. Whoever is in for something unusual and doesn't mind history settings: please give this a try.

Excellent demo, good execution

The demo is comprehensive enough to let you understand how the game works and what to expect from it. And what you should expect is a unique and thoughtful experience that I haven't seen in any other game yet. You get to play an RPG where a major point is the actual role-play; that is, the development of your character, their fears and desires and their attempt to deal with similar emotions in other people. The story is a historical fiction, set in one of the borderlands of the Roman Empire. It's exceptionally well written, both setting and characters. Progress is cleverly planned, so that even when you fail checks (which will happen often, as it's a chance-based game) you still get to accomplish something, either in learning about your character and their weaknesses, or in advancing some skill. My only gripe is that some characters have a rather wooden face - as the game was obviously made using some basic 3D character animation program. But even that is a minor point, since the main characters are designed very well.
