Poor UI
I did not play this game when it was originally released. Without nostalgia the interface of this game is quite a disappointment.

Endlessly Entertaining
This game was my childhood, because it is fantastic (and still is even to this day).

Worse than the mobile version
Please don't make the mistake of buying this version. It's missing any kind of speed control which even the mobile version has. Buy RCT2 instead and play the RCT1 scenarios through that

Just buy RCT2
If you want to buy this game, I recommend that you skip it and buy Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 instead. It's almost exactly the same game, except with more variations of things to buy, more scenarios, and some much-needed interface improvements. Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 has a lot of coasters built in by default, but the game doesn't let you see what most of them look like until after you buy them. This often results in the entire coaster being raised off of the ground, or the coaster itself blocking almost all entry and exit points, forcing you to get extremely creative about how people will actually get to it. Also, most of the default coasters are FAR too large for the spaces you're provided for the scenarios, practically forcing you to build custom coasters -- which can be fun, but you don't want to do it for every single one of them. Sometimes you just want to throw down a coaster quickly to get your customers to stop complaining. RCT2 will show you a preview of exactly what the coaster will look like, many of them are much smaller to fit in the space you have, and almost all of them have included queue and exit lines hooked up to them by default. Also, when you do want to create your own coasters, RCT2 allows you to save them for later use as well. In addition, this game is very unstable on 32-bit Windows 7. I had numerous complete system freezes that forced me to hard-reboot my computer. RCT2 was far more compatible.
