RoboCop: Rogue City is a pitch-perfect throwback to the action movies of the ‘80s. It’s over-the-top violence with charm, largely well put together but rough on the edges. Most importantly, it's a fun way to spend time in a beloved fictional universe that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Blasting at goons as an unstoppable walking machine remains as extremely entertaining as it seemed on the big screen, thanks in part to an impressive commitment to capturing the look and feel of the original film. Mixing in elements like routine police work and side quests does a great job changing the pace, too. Even if it’s not the best example of visual fidelity, and prone to some bugs along the way, that love of RoboCop shines through. This is a solid B movie of a video game, which is exactly what the source material demands.

Even if Rogue City had started to rust a little towards the end of its lengthy campaign, its surprisingly in-depth shooting and roleplaying mechanics, love of the source material, and keen understanding of what makes RoboCop so great in the first place has made it one of the biggest surprises of 2023 for me. In a year full of absolute bangers, make sure you spend some time in Detroit.

Ein würdiger RoboCop-Titel mit viel Atmo
RoboCop: Rogue City hat mich positiv überrascht. Die Entwickler haben es geschafft, den Stil und Ton der klassischen Filme richtig gut einzufangen. Die düstere Atmosphäre von Detroit, der trockene Humor und sogar Peter Weller als RoboCop – all das fühlt sich authentisch an. Das Gameplay ist solide: Man bewegt sich recht schwerfällig, aber das passt zur Figur. Die Kämpfe sind wuchtig und machen Spaß, besonders wenn man durch Wände ballert oder Gegner mit gezieltem Auto-Feuer ausschaltet. Auch die Nebenmissionen und die kleinen Detektiv-Elemente bringen etwas Abwechslung ins Spiel. Die Grafik ist stimmungsvoll, wenn auch nicht ganz auf AAA-Niveau. Kleinere Bugs und technische Schwächen gibt es leider, z. B. gelegentliche Ruckler oder steife Gesichtsanimationen. Nichts, was den Spielspaß massiv trübt, aber es fällt auf.

Good game, Clunky start.
It's a game with Robocop in it, you investigate, you shoot, you save cats! Don't know how many times I quoted ''Your move, creep'' after shooting some hooligan in the crown jewels. However, the only thing negative have to say about the game, is actually not even within the game. It was being able to run this game. I had to go into the ini files to tamper with the post processing, just so the game could start. It took 20 minutes before I figured out a way to run it. Sadly, I had to do this every SINGLE time I entered the game. So, good game in general, but holy hell did I not enjoy the setup for it.

Simple but so good
Good to have a game which isn't too large, with not too many mechanics but all the mechanics done well, with graphics that look good without destroying your computer, it looks great runs great plays great and feels great and with a new game plus added, it's even better

Feels like coming home
This is a love letter to fans of the original film. From the gritty atmosphere of Old Detroit to the iconic voice and presence of RoboCop himself, the game captures the spirit of the classic. For anyone like me, who grew up loving the movie, playing this feels a bit like coming home.
