When Riven was first released in 1997 it was heralded as a majestic piece of art. Now almost 30 years later, Cyan Worlds returns to that world, bringing it to modern standards using the tools of today. Once again, they've created a majestic piece of art, and a world worth exploring all over again. It'll test your mind, it's a feast for your eyes and ears, and if you enjoy deep puzzles, it's a game you absolutely cannot miss.

Das Remake von Riven ist super
Ich war erst skeptisch, dann begeistert. Als das Original 1997 erschien, habe ich es gespielt und für damalige Verhältnisse war die Grafik fantastisch. Das Remake verfügt über eine amtemberaubende Grafik und einige Rätsel wurden leicht geändert und müssen in einer anderen Reihenfolge gelöst werden. Ich bin mit diesen Veränderungen sehr einverstanden und für mich ist es eins der besten Spiele, die dies Jahr erschienen sind.

Zwingend für Retroenthusiasten
Die Riven Spiele sind für mich immer noch Meilensteine beim Computerspiel. Sie zeigten damals zum ersten Mal hervorragende Grafik. Das wurde jetzt noch getoppt mit einer der neuesten Grafikoberflächen und spielt sich wie ein wunderbar neues Spiel, zumal das alte schon vergessen war.

A feast for the eyes experience
I played Riven when it first came out back in the late 90's and had completely forgotten about it. The new version is nothing short of a slow paced feast for the eyes. Please make sure you have a powerful graphics card to enjoy it to the fullest. My own RTX 4070 allowed me to play in 4K with HDR and that made the game a continuous 12 hour wondrous amazement. I purchased the Deluxe edition with the Riven Companion and finished the game in 12 hours. Having this guide made a big difference.

Back to Wonderland
It turned out beautifully! The graphics are - as they were back then - stunning, the scenario is as great as I remembered it. The addition of a notebook where you can capture screenshots and annotate them is a great idea, it saves you from ending up with the whole table covered in paper notes (you still have to make a few handwritten notes, but that's the appeal of these games, after all, it's about writing worlds). I played Riven back in 1997 and again at some point, and I'm thoroughly enjoying being able to go back to it now and experience it in new splendor.
