The best Wolfenstein game

It is the best of the Wolfenstein games and sets the bar. Full stop and end of review - this is a first person shooter that does everything right. I had a US colleague who more or less smuggled a physical copy for the Mac (PowerPC only back in the day) over the border to Germany so that I could play it. And this leads me to a remark for GOG: Why can I actually see this game in the German store if you don't allow me to add it to the cart and actually purchase it? You love to tease us Germans and our idiotic youth protection laws? Please - if we cannot purchase it, then don't show it to us. Besides, that would even be the correct legal way in Germany: You are actually not even allowed to show this game in your store, since it's on the index because of its Third Reich symbols. And that ruling, by the way, is outdated and has been dropped in the meantime - games qualify as art, and art is allowed to used these symbols for artistic purposes and/or to provide correct historical context. The newer Wolfenstein games are now also sold without any censorship in Germany. So it should be safe to also sell Return To Castle Wolfenstein now.

It's a MUST HAVE in your collection!

This game is a Masterpiece. Every level is superb designed, the graphics is beautiful until these days, superb action like in movies, great music, very sexy SS girls which want to kill you. What do you want more? It feels like the developers really loved their work for this game. Great old times! Don't put a low score just because you are lazy and you don't want to look for a patch to be compatible with Windows 10. Blame Microsoft for games not being compatible, not the developers! My all time favorite FPS

This title was a game changer for me when it came out in 2002. The single player campaign was very cool, but the multiplayer was what set this game apart from all others. It was the first time I ever played online and I was immediately hooked... not just a fan, but obsessed. Unfortunately, the Master Server has been down for a few years and the multiplayer game is practically useless. But the single player campaign is worth the price of admission.

Hold up great

I replayed this recently, and it has aged well (dated, but it doesn't just feel old). BUT- be sure to change your video settings, as the default is super low-res. The story is rich, albeit a little weird, and engaging. The maps are well laid out and detailed. Gameplay is rich, though not terribly varied. It comes at a good pace, and the difficulty settings allow for either quick casual play or a challenge. With epic boss battles, good voice acting, great level design, and good support on modern hardware, it's hard to go wrong with this game. If you want extra enjoyment, play Enemy Territory, which runs on this engine but has wonderful team-based and class-based multiplayer (though you need at least 8 people for it to be epic fun).

Great and Fantastic Game!

5 out of 5 for just being an awesome WW2 run and gun game. Ages well thanks to GOG's excellent standards with Video Games in general. Steam cannot hold a candle to the release of RTCW on GOG, and it will continue to be that way for classic games such as this. My only complaint about this game is that the African Prologue will probably never be included in the game, because it does give substantial backstory leading up to being captured in the Castle, also those levels are pretty darn fun, but such is life.
