Queen's Wish Demo
I just completed the demo of Queen's Wish. I'm a longtime fan of Spiderweb games, and yes, this is quite a departure form what has been "established" in the past. No XP for kills, dungeons that repopulate if you leave without killing the Boss, respecing abilities upon returning to a fort instead of having characteristics to focus on improving, etc. Vogel really made some gutsy changes from "what worked" in the past, but I found the game so far to be refreshing, engaging and worth my time. I'm guardedly optimistic that the rest of the game will be the same, so I'll buy the full version once it goes on sale. I thought I would want to micromanage my character, but the gameplay here is interesting enough that I don't miss those aspects of traditional roleplaying. At all! Not sure how replayable this might be--I doubt I'd want to change many of the decisions my character is making on a new play-through. I feel like this game in its current state is a pretty solid 4/5 stars. If you aren't wedded to grinding for XP and micromanaging character custimization, you will likely enjoy this game. The lack of these things is a carefully considered feature, not an omission or flaw. Try out the demo (it's on the Spiderweb site) and see!
