In the world of Thasys, most races rely on Mana to survive. This magical energy is now growing scarce, and wars for survival are devastating the lands as magical beings fight over the last remaining scraps of this life-giving force. Somewhere, legendary creatures sleep an ageless slumber, hiding in their hearts the original Mana source. Only a few chosen ones can awaken these Creatures and guide them to save Thasys. They are the witnesses of a dying world, the last hope for the living.
They are the PRODIGIES.
Prodigy is a tactical turn-based game set in a fantastic world of Thasys, torn in a never ending war. Create a team of heroes, the last hope for the dying world, and lead them to the victory fighting hand in hand with powerful Guardians. Every character is equipped with a unique set of abilities to aid allies in the battle or to vanquish their foes.
Battles in Prodigy consists of two teams facing each other on a classic arena. Each team can move freely on a 3x4 squares field, adjusting their tactic to the synergy of characters. While one side is preparing an attack, the other one sets the defense or counter-attack - making the game dynamic and engaging for both players at the time. Positioning becomes a key-component of the fights, as it can change the current target and affects the attack power.
There are two powerful forces in the Prodigy world: Harmony and Dissonance. Each one can be used by the Watchers and both bring the new quality to the battlefield.
Harmony brings balance and aids team in the battle, allowing them to gain power to cast their special abilities. At the end of the turn, if the Hero acts in Harmony, it creates a square filled with Mana.
Dissonance is a powerful and unpredictable force. It fills the creature using it with enormous power capable of destroying even the strongest foes.... But this force comes with a great responsibility as Dissonance is unstable. Beware, this force used without a proper caution leads to chaos.

This was a game funded through kickstarter in 2014. The company took the miney will not guve us keys and will not even answer questions or even guve refunds
This is abandonware by garbage devs from a failed Kickstarter project. Yet another game in the massive pile of failed Kickstarter games that never went anywhere. It's games like this that is the reason why I had always been so hesitant in Early Access games (In Development, as it's called on GOG). There is no guarantee that we will actually get the product we paid money for.
GOG should honestly be ashamed of themselves for keeping this game on the store and not refunding all the people who bought this unfinished mess.
Make no bones about it: this game is unfinished. Devs abandoned this game years ago, and it's quite literally in an unplayable state.
Literally the only good thing about this piece of software (because I can't even consider its broken state a game) is all the beautiful assets within and the amazing art design. Whoever the art designer and art director were really went above and beyond, for the most part. There are some truly heinous designs as well, but I also chock that up to this game being in what I consider the early Alpha stage.
This game sits in my library as a warning to myself to NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER EARLY ACCESS/IN DEV GAME EVER AGAIN. My single lapse in judgement of wanting to give this game the benefit of the doubt burned me, and I won't make that mistake again.
As for the game itself, I think the devs wanted to do something different, and failed massively. What they should've done was look back to older strategy games and went with what worked instead of the convoluted mess that we got here. There are so many turn-based tactics games out there (Ogre Battle March of the Black Queen, Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together, Final Fantasy Tactics, Might and Magic, the list goes on and on) they could've drawn from, but went with... whatever this mess is.
I hate that this game is in my library, and am disappointed in myself that I got lured in with the extremely pretty artwork. This game is literally only good to harvest the assets from.
I made my first review shortly after release in EA. I was hopeful for it... until the devs abandoned it with our money and left a demo of a game. Do not buy this garbage.
My original review is below, which was assuming theyd at least release a patch or two beyond this and give us the basic game that was promised, even if unfinished. This is a short demo, which none of my original review applies knowing thats all you'll ever get.
I will first state that this review is based on the In Dev title that only includes MP and basically skirmishes. There is a story or campaign mode button that says it is in development and won't let you select it. I also only played single player because I rarely play any type of multi and prefer to play solo.
The first thing you notice about this game will be the incredible graphics, detailed characters, and sound. It looks and sounds as great as the photos and videos. While it is just basically characters on a board in game, the surrounding environments are incredibly detailed and lively. The attacks have great animation. Everything looks and sounds great.
The gameplay itself is interesting between the harmony and dissonance, but it is very slow. It's not too slow that it's not fun, it's just that it feels like it does take away a little from the experience. Each character gets an attack phase and a defense phase. You can only move during an attack phase, and you can only use a special ability once during a round. So basically you can use it during the attack or during the defense, but not both. So if you use your ability during the defense phase you'll only have the basic either harmony or dissonance attack, and the same for defense. The tiles on the board can become harmony or dissonance, but I don't fully understand yet when that happens and what it means. I noticed I could still use harmony on a dissonance tile. The tiles closer to the enemy cause you to do higher damage, but lower defense, while the tiles further away have the opposite effect. While there are only a few abilities per character, it is much more complicated than it seems to be. It's definitely not something you want to play to unwind after a long day, it requires a lot of thinking and planning.
I'll admit, I'm only part way through the tutorial, but I felt like I got enough out of what I played so far to write a review.
If they could figure out a way to speed up the gameplay a bit, I would love to give it a five star rating. As it stands, it is well worth the cost. I can't wait to see the last game mode implemented and to see how this progresses.
Prodigy Tactics is an innovative grid ,turn based game that features great graphics ,nice animations but most importantly deep mechanics. Apart from the whole harmony/dissent theme that enforces you to take a balanced approach, a gambling one or any mixture of both ,each special ability possesses a "bond" that can synergize with other characters. The tutorial could use a bit improvement as you are bombarded with a lot of info while some parts are left unexplained (however with a little effort you will be able to figure them out yourself-the ui is not perfect but it is pretty good all things considered.) This review is based off the tutorial and the bastion part of the game which offered me much more than I expected from this title. All things said, I can see why some people may dislike it. The gameplay has a somewhat slow pace (which is perfectly fine if you are looking to enjoy the whole experience - did I say that the graphics look good and the animations don't fail to deliver ?) and the mechanics may seem overwhelming at first but reward smart choice making. The formula looks more than solid at this state, which is much more than many games under developmen can offer.
