One of the best games I've ever played
The atmosphere and lore of the game are really solid. The gameplay is fluid and can be punishing if you want it to be (difficulty modifiers) and all in all add the creepy feeling of a walking sim with the ability of actually being able to fight back or stealth your way. Failable side quests, cool characters, etc. Don't own it on GoG but had to let people know that it's worth buying especially in GoG.

I recommend it, but with caveats
I've played it through multiple times on console, and now grabbing this on sale to check out Mooncrash. Prey itself is a solid-enough ventilation duct simulator, but the amount of backtracking you can potentially end up doing does make the second half of the game into a slog. I should also add that I really dislike the final ten minutes, but that's just like, my opinion, man... That said, I still really enjoy exploring Talos I, and I especially like having a game installed where I can just load up a save to go drift around in zero g for a while. I might even consider picking up a vr headset if they ever release a sequel, if for no other reason than to zero g it up like a true belter. Giving only 3 out of 5 because, while I do genuinely like certain elements of Prey (enough to have picked up a second copy here), I consider it to have some pretty significant drawbacks as well. Not a bad purchase now that it's fully patched, on GOG, and under ten bucks.

An advanced variation on Bioshock
After completing both Bioshock 1 and 2 remastered and getting hooked on the FPS-RPG combination with management of weapons and resources I went looking for a more complex challenge. System shock was too much for my little head. Prey struck the right balance and brought many elements of added realism. This game allows you to freely wander around a space easily 5 times larger than what you find in Bioshock as well as float around in ... space! Play it in 4K to enjoy to the fullest! Expect to take between 25 to 50 hours to complete. Maybe more if you try to do all the secondary objectives.

Not as good as I hoped...
The main game setting of a space-station = awesome. The graphical style of the game was very nice. The skill trees, skills, menus and inventory systems were pretty well-designed. There was a lot of task repetition, unfortunately. Controlling the character to do certain things was a little clunky compared to most games I play, so the main character was a clutz. It was still satisfying to smash the nasty murdering tar-blob "mimics" (which remind me of the alien part of the comic character Venom crossed with the Skin Of Evil). One thing I didn't expect was that the game plot involved a naive player being presented with competing narratives by different parties. Being withheld facts relevant to the story until a certain point created some 'reveal' moments. Prey had some surprise twists at a couple places in the story. But as the story unfolded it revealed a pretty lame and boring one - I found the story more than a little lacking. The characters also seemed disappointingly unreal and often too limited. There were not enough interactions between characters, or consequences, for the most part. I don't want to spoil the plot so I'll just say that, in a sense, maybe the shallow coldness of certain characters fit well with the story? Players might develop a dislike for the main character as the plot progresses. About 50% of the fun in the game was in the first hour, 30% was in the ending, and the rest was mostly when the character was falling. It's great there are multiple endings, but some of the ending variants are definitely not worth another playthrough. I became pretty tired of the focus on questing to find out how someone-or-other died horribly. I think they ran out of shocking ways to show how vulnerable people can be terribly victimized by evil-incarnate tar-blobs.
