How to avoid crashing?
It crashes no matter what I tried to do. It crashes at the end of the loading up in to the new game.

Gog does not like localised versions
Port Royale 1 & 2 are german games, developed by a german studio and published by a german publisher and even these games are english only ? Only on gog of course ! I told the gog customer service that it is very easy to change the language to other countries (for example germany) in games like europa universalis 2 and heart of iron 2 and some more title by editing one line of the ini file with an editor. It would take 5 minutes to wrtite a batch file to change the language for those who dont no what an editor is. ^^ Customer service answered "Fine, our technical team will check it". This is months ago, nothing happened. All older paradox games english only on gog. (allegedly) Gog is not really interested in localization. But take notice that i will not buy a formerly localized game which is republished as gog version, english only. And stop telling that you have no files or data. It attracts not your interest, thats all. There are even illegal gog copies localized from users ! There are free localization patches from publishers and community for some games and most important: Publisher who sold you a licence and even sell the same product localized in a protected version are unreachable or unable to give you a localization patch ? Good joke ! Good night !

I too compare it to Sid Pirates
I could not really get into this game. I didn't buy the game expecting it to be like Pirates! but it seemed to be like a more boring version after I played it. I think I was wanting something more like empire building with pirates and economic emphasis. I found it boring and cumbersome. I liked the Guild which is for sale on GOG and I love the civilization games so I am not a fast paced action gamer by any means but I did find this game boring. I am glad I got it while on sale.

Port Royale
Doesn't work, which is sad. When it loads it exits the game with some german garbage about what the problem is. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on it.

Too hard to get in to.
Frustrating game play, weak battle tactics (the computer basically fights and steers your ship during battle and un-intuitive controls made this one of the worst games I've bought from GOG.
