As the offspring of almighty Zeus, you demand a seat among the gods. But before ascending to the top of Mt. Olympus, you must first defeat some of the most powerful deities in the Greek pantheon. The second installment of Bullfrog's Populous series follows the path set by its predecessor and remains one of the greatest god-games ever created. Populous 2: Trials of the Olympian Gods vastly improves the formula by adding new spells, better quality sound and graphics, and a character development system that allows you to customize your divine powers in any way you want. You really can’t go wrong with a game where you can kill gods, obliterate entire continents, and strike down upon the infidels with great vengeance and furious anger. Just as Peter Molyneux, those things simply never get old.

This is the worst version of this game
Populous 2 is a classic, but this "enhanced" DOS edition is by far the worst version of the game. Not only are the "improved" graphics weird and creepy, but the game runs slow as molasses. By all means, buy it on sale for the license, but then go to the internet archive and download the prior DOS version. It runs fine in DOSbox or any other DOS container. Or use the Amiga version, it's also easy to get your hands on. Either way the game will run MUCH better than this version does. Not sure why GOG is selling only the very worst version of this game, but it's weird.

Unfortunately not as good as the Amiga.
I'm glad that GOG is offering this great game not to be forgotten. However, this is the MSDOS PC version which i find not as good by a large margin as the Amiga version. Amiga version is prettier to the eyes, has a lot of sounds which are essential to the game, and feels more balanced. For this game, on computers, i would rank Amiga>AtariST>MSDOS>Mac, not taking into account the consoles versions.

Es ist nicht leicht, ein Gott zu sein
Ohne Frage eines meiner erklärten All-Time-Lieblingsspiele, auch nach 30 Jahren hat das Spiel nichts, aber auch überhaupt nichts, von seinem Charme verloren und sorgt auch heute noch mit seiner putzigen Grafik und dem cleveren nahezu einzigartigen (wenn man mal von dem ersten Teil absieht) Spielprinzip für unglaublich viel Spaß. Es macht einfach richtig Bock den Gegner mit Vulkanausbrüchen, Flutwellen, etc. zu ärgern und das eigene Volk zu hätscheln und zu pflegen. Ein absolutes Muss und sollte in keiner Bibliothek fehlen!
