„Only Lead Can Stop Them“ nimmt dabei stylistische Anleihen aus den klassischen 90er-Jahre Shootern, mit seinen äußerst detaillierten Umgebungen und in Pixel-Art gerenderten Feinden. Zudem überzeugt es durch sein kompromissloses, atemberaubendes und äußerst schnelllebiges Gameplay.
Im Spiel begegnest du über einem Dutzend unterschiedlichen Feind-Typen. Während viele deiner Feinde mit Schusswaffen ausgestattet sind, wirst du zudem auch übernatürliche okkulte Mächte bekämpfen müssen, welche dich ohne Probleme in Stücke reißen könnten.

Great game with a lot of Wolfenstein 3D vibes. If you wanna enjoy some old school fps game and you're bored of a tons of Doom and Quake-likes ,this is for you .a man fighting against evil dudes and a type of cult. just like in early days of the genre

Flawed, But Enjoyable Homage To Oldies
If you are someone who likes shooters around the time the original Wolfenstein came out, but would like to (re)visit that experience with some modern amenities, this game is probably for you. Otherwise, your mileage may vary. While I have fond memories of it, I don't think I'd have the patience revisit the original Wolfenstein in its entirety, but this game gave me a lot of that vibe, while still remaining quite enjoyable for the entire duration of the campaign. While the game is a shooter and not a history course, I think the different setting (Spanish revolution around the earlier Franco years) of the game is kind of nice. There is not a crazy variety of enemies, but there are enough (and they are different enough) to keep the game fresh for its 10 hours or so duration. There are 3 main chapters to the campaign (plus an optional S difficulty level that can be played on its own) and while chapter 1 feels a little stale, chapter 2 and 3 definitely go out of old school shooter territory (by Wolfenstein years) and has a lot of fun levels. The maps are fairly large and well thought of. Most of the guns are pretty enjoyable though I mostly found myself alternating with 3 (the minigun, rifle and shotgun) with the rare use of dynamite. The game has a few blemishes, though no show stoppers: Some enemies get stuck in walls and can shoot you from them (dynamite will help there), I once fell on a chair and couldn't move (had to reload) and even though you can clearly see enemies, you can't shoot through some windows or from corners unless you are almost completely around them. Each chapter in the game has stages that can be played in succession (though you have to restart a new game on the next chapter) or you can jump straight to any stage you like. There are also options to customize how retro (ie, wolfenstein-like vs more modern) you want your game to be. Running out of characters. Fun game.

The game reminds me of my youth. I love the simple gameplay. Playing a round of Only Lead Can Stop Them is just plain fun. Respect to the developers for the great work. I hope there will be another DLC or a sequel. A cowboy retro "boomer" shooter would also be an idea. Keep it up, I love it.

Based on the demo available on Steam...
It's a great idea, only held back by a terrible movement system. Walking forward works well enough, but strafing feels extremely heavy and unresponsive, whilst also having the floaty-ness of old shooters, like Doom. So the feeling of moving around is akin to piloting a tank on ice. Another thing that could be better are the weapon sounds: they feel too weak. But that's only a minor complaint. Unfortunately, movement is an essential part of a boomer-shooter; If only the developer could fix it, this would be an amazing game. As it stands, though, it's unpleasant to play and can be fine at best.

More than a homage, an evolution
Only Lead Can Stop Them (Only Lead) wears its Wolf 3D inspiration proudly on its sleeve and comparisons to this game are unavoidable. As far as capturing action-hero vibe of Wolf 3D, Only Lead delivers this in droves with you playing the part of a side-strafing militiaman cutting down pixelized badguys. Where Only Lead surpasses Wolf 3D is by expanding upon existing mechanics adding a level of complexity that Wolf 3D sorely lacked. While I enjoy Wolf 3D it gets stale after the first episode, an issue that Only Lead solves by: adding a broad array of weapons, intricate and well furnished levels, and a new resource called conviction that lets you enter a "berserk mode." Finally: not only does this game deliver mechanically, but also with great personality. The Spanish Civil War is one of many "forgotten" wars that barely exists in the popular memory, it is such a delight to interact with this period of history through a video game. The art direction is excellent, combining a retro vibe with a unique Spanish-core dieselpunk style. Instead of swastikas you have Falangist arrows, and many more things to add local flavor. Worth mentioning: there is a level editor and the ability to play custom levels, though I have not tried this myself. I strongly recommend this game to fans of historical games, boomer shooters, and especially fans of Wolfenstein 3D or Wizordum.
