Gorgeous, with a few minor flaws
Omensight looks a lot like Majora's Mask by way of Okami, which is to say that it capable of being incredibly pretty. The music is also fantastic, and the writing manages to strike a delicate balance between darkness and levity. Even the few companions who initially come across as annoying are well written enough to quickly grow on you. The emphasis on time travel means that you'll be doing a lot of the same things during the game's few (mostly linear) levels, but altered companion dialogue and new abilities spice these revisits up a bit. There are some rough edges regardless, though, such as some floatiness that can conspire with the camera angles to make certain combat and platforming sections a pain, as well a part where you instantly die if any one member of a mob of enemies reaches a detonator. These are things you quickly learn to adapt to, but they can be annoying in the moment. Still, Omensight is a gem. Exploring the reactions and interactions of a small cast of characters on opposite sides of a bloody conflict is endlessly amusing, and carving through a group of enemies with your handful of superpowers never gets old.

Nice addition to the genre
Now that the "God of War"(GoW) series turn more into a "Gear of War" gameplay wise, seems like a good opportunity to get their hands on a good PS2 era beat'em all, isn't it? Well,Omensight is a little more than that, thanks to some interesting narrative idea that produce quite something unique and interesting. Let's dig it shall we? I won't spoil too much here, but let's say there's a war between two factions in a furies f***fest kingdom, and a big pile of doom happened during the whole journey leading to the apocalypse... Yeah, but luckily you're like a badass time traveling spirit and that give you the perfect legitimacy to investigate about what's going on and fix that mess, save the world etc... So basically, you'll end up redoing the same level, with different perspective as each day you'll team with a different personality; and by redoing the same day learning about different things for the advancement of the story, you'll end up having different ability that'll open new areas in each level... This is what makes this game a little metroidvania-ish; the concept of the story, of course, will appeal to those who played the famous Zelda game "Majora's Mask"... and rightfully so, but just for that "redoing the same period of time to avoid the apocalypse". The narrative is pretty well done! Didn't hit me the first 15 minutes, but the story reserves its surprises and its pretty well told. From a gameplay perspective, we have a very polished "GoW like" with a few ideas. Pad mandatory! Use all of your buttons and triggers. Easy combos 1/2 buttons combos(fast/heavy attack), but lot of abilities to play with in battle. The camera is always well placed(pretty rare in this genre! worth mention it), I didn't noticed any fatal bugs; there's nothing unfair about the timing, very well done. You can see the developers know their jobs! Very appealing cartoonish art style and animation!Once again, hurray for the artists. And finally 2 leveling systems to put a little bit of spice in your adventure, plus secrets and collectibles for the completionists out there... I find very little defaults about this game: maybe a bit of repetitiveness inner to the genre AND cause of the way the story is made... But it's a very pleasant experience that I finished in one play-trough: rare enough these days to be mention! Recommended!

Fun game with nice story
Fun game. Buy it, if you like this type of game and or story driven ones. I felt that is it worth its money. Bought it because I got Stories (Omensight was announced as the Spiritual Successor) for free and liked that one. This is a good game and worth its money, but has a few flawes. Played Version 1.0 - Possible Spoilers! I got to act two on my second (in play) day (I think that was faster than intended bei the developers). After that I could not choose to show the characters the omensight, it was the only possible way to start the day. That pissed me of a bit, because I have the feeling I missed some of the story of act one. I would like it better if you could choose. Liked the stories and the characters. Combo system ist not perfect but I think the strenght of this game is the good story.
