Not bad. But not amazing
I will just say I enjoyed it. Very linear. Good story. Characters really felt real to me. Well written. Looks great. 14 - 15 hours game play on easy. Not much strategy. Pick the perks and weapons you want. Tag team the bad guys. And watch them do your bidding.

Interesting game, nice story
I wanted to play Of Orcs and Men from the period that i had my PS3 but i didn't do it for various reasons. Now after 11 years, and with the thought of playing an Old Scholl RPG i decided that it's time to play the game. The game runned very well on modern Hardware without a single crash. The visuals are not that great (PS2 more than PS3 era).The only problem that i had with the game is, when i conected my Xbox controller.The game didn't recognize the control until i disconnected the mouse dongle from the usb port. After this the controller worked just fine. The story of the game was very good, the characters bonding was very interesting to watch.To be honest it was very fun to play as an bad ass orc and a goblin. The gameplay is basic, you have a set of 3 tree skills for both characters from which you can chose. If you play the game on Extreme difficulty build Arkail defensively and Styx offensively. Invest al your points in stamina and mind ( health/ Damage reduction for Arkail) and (health, dodge for Styx). Gear Styx with gears that gives him dodge bonus, and Arkail with gear that gives him damage deflection. Also chose anger management path for Arkail in Extreme difficulty when you will have the chance.Use Styx to shadow kill at first to reduce the number of enemies but to gain experience you need to fight. After you grow in strength i sugest to planify an fight when you have the chance in order to gain xp points and level. At the final fight i had level 22 and i was very tough. If i was at a lower level i wouldn't manage to win it. Maybe a higher level than 22 would be recommended. The build of Arkail and Styxsaved me to be honest in that fight. I didn't have any problem with the achievements to pop out,and you can get them in one play, with some manually saves at 3 points in the game when you need to make a choice. I finished the game on Extreme dificulty without dying once in 27 hours. I recommend this game to everyone who like old-school RPG.

I'd give it 3.5, but I'll round up to 4.
The game is simple, honestly kind of nostalgic. The story was good, combat was a bit odd but definitely not the worst system I've played, I read a review that it was a bit too easy so I did my first play through on "hard" difficulty. I had to repeat some of the big fights 5 or 6 times before I finally got it, but overall it felt about right. One complaint I have is that, the maps are incredibly linear with no real exploration value. You proceed forward killing enemies and that's pretty much it. there may be rooms off to the side to walk into, but they're all empty. At the start of the game, it tells you how Styx can use narrow passages that Arkail can't fit through, and demonstrates by having you walk around a locked door to open it from the other side... Then you literally never do this again for pretty much the rest of the game. Well, until the very last level, where the characters split up for maybe 5 minutes and Styx is walking around on the ceiling. I was scratching my head about why they'd make a big deal about it early in the game if it wasn't a recurring mechanic. By the end of my play through I had 28 hours logged on the Galaxy client, although 3-4 of those were with the game paused while I was up doing other things. I'm not sure I'd pay $15 for it, but I picked it up during the winter sales for $1.50 and it was absolutely worth that. It's a great way to kill a weekend if you've not got much else to do and want a sweet & simple console port to burn through.

Jank with Heart
This game is so damn janky. And weird. And strange gameplay. But it has so much personality and heart it makes it all worth while! The characters are great. The story is compelling. The immersion is there (most of the time). You can level up, get skills, some different playstyles, but it is still a pretty railroaded game. It is very unique, and I absolutely recommend it to everyone who appreciates great story, characters and immersion, but don't care as much about bugs or poor gameplay. It will stick with me for a long time, and I will only remember the good parts!

A rough but very interesting game
I've played the Styx games as a Stealth fan, and I was interested by the lore behind it so I decided to play OOAM to get the entire franchise. I was aware it was rougher, but I had a very fun time with it. The characters are somewhat cliché but are well developed for such a short game, and even though this game is not the only text to put orcs as the oppressed and marginalized, it does with thought and realistically, showing humans that try to liberate them and traitors that work for the humans for table scraps. A lot of reviews compare the gameplay to Dragon Age Origins, but I actually found it more consistent and easier to get used to. The game does a pretty bad job at explaining what is good against what but after a few dozen combats you instinctively know what works and what doesn't. The stealth sections are meh, nothing great but not terrible, fine to break the monotony of many combats. Overall I really enjoyed my time with the game, I wish cyanide did more games for the franchise
