I think it is a good game

For any realistic approach i would give it a 4.5*. But you can take that detail out of this comment. I read on the internet, that the game only gets more and more difficult and i am NOT a fan of that. I think the graphics are really well done and it adds alot of eye candy to an old classic. Just today, after a long time, i continued the game a little bit just because i missed looking at the graphics and i ended up enjoying some of its gameplay, too, although it gets too repetitive if you go through it in 1 go. But realistically, if you think back to old times, we never really played anything in 1 go, we always took breaks, did homework, ate food, etc. And i also checked some of the interview of oddworld creator(before buying) and i think it's fine to leave it at a 5*(but really if you don't like it a maximum of 4* would be totally fair) I have to admit, that i remember buying this on SALE. I don't really know how to evaluate pricing. When i buy something on sale i think to myself "Is this purchase even going to be able to contribute towards lifting the costs, that went into development ?". But on the other hand i do not have much money to spend and from that perspective of course i would have to think twice, mainly because i focus more on gameplay. From a pure gameplay perspective honestly i do not recommend it, even on sale. There is only a couple of things and you use those things to get through the story. I think it is good for a casual experience, where you check out the game every now and then(like we used to do as kids with the collection of many games, some of which we re-visited) My rating is like comparing taste. People who like ego-shooter and not racing-cars are going to rate differently. So, my rating is based on this specific story-driven genre. For pure gameplay, unbiased of genre i would give it 3*. Of course i have to be fair, because i ended up enjoying it today, even when i thought i was stuck. Just more for casuals in terms of pure gameplay.

Modernised Very Poorly

I really tried to give this game a go. I tried playing the OG when I was little, I couldn’t handle the difficulty & puzzles then. I thought maybe I can handle it after learning more. But it’s just not fun. I was enjoying it & even through a lot of frustrating moments; I still kept going. Some frustration is expected & understandable, but eventually the challenges were being blatantly synthetic. There’s 1 area where you need to jump passed some swaying boulders. The floaty controls & butter feet that Abe has doesn’t help at all here but I thought ok fine, I’ll work with that, it’s almost ok when you learn that he has 2 different jumps, for whatever reason they decided making it the exact same button was a pass in QA. They have bats that fly around the platforms & damage Abe. Ok, fine I’ll work with that too. Get to a point where you need to return through the same area, but problem is, you’re left with 1 bird/life bar if you didn’t do so well the 1st time through. This would be fine, if not for the bats that attack you on the way back, because I only had 1 bird left, I would die almost instantly. It literally leaves you with the options of constant trial & error (because apparently that’s considered fun by QA standards), get lucky because timing with the way the controls are is not gonna happen for me or reset the ENTIRE chapter which means doing EVERY other level in that chapter… Again. No thanks. My only option at this point is to uninstall. It’s a real damn shame, I put just under 4 hours into this game because I really wanted to give it a go, the narrative seems kind of interesting. I’m actually not sure I want to bother with the rest of the games in the franchise after this. This is the 2nd time I’m uninstalling this game & it’ll be the last. If the next game is anything like this then I might just watch a Let’s Play. Which is sad cause I had no other issues with the game, no bugs, no performance issues. Everything wrong with it is by design.

Ich war anfangs skeptisch, aber ich muss sagen; New 'n' Tasty ist in ALLEN Punkten besser als das Original und ich war wirklich ein großer Fan des Orignals. Durch die 3 Schwierigkeitsgrade (Anfänger bis Veteran) und die Quicksafe-Funktion kann man dieses ehemals bockschwere Spiel, bedenkenlos jedem empfehlen. Sogar meine kleine Schwerster findet es super Klassel!!! Für alle die es noch nicht kennen: Jump and Rund mit tollen Räzeln, Toller Story und super Atmosphäre!! Kaufen!!

Inb4 idiots (hopefully)

1st of all, this game released in July 2014 for PS4... so the DLC wasn't made on release. It was made almost a year ago and is now available as the full game on PC, Mac, and Linux along with the DLC that's been made since. 2nd, my experience on the PS4 version of the game was great! Always loved the oddworld games and Abe's Odyssey was a fav of mine, so a return to that after 10+ years was a breath of fresh air to one of my favorite genres that rarely sees quality titles. As long as the port is good, ( I can't tell, don't plan on buying it due to already having it on PS4 ) it's a very fun 2d platformer that anyone can enjoy, but specifically people who played and loved the old oddworld games.
