Moros Protocol is inspired by some amazing games: DOOM, Ultrakill, Half-Life and many other amazing retro-futuristic first-person shooters! Check them out too if you have not already!
Like all roguelikes, this one hooks you to rerun multiple times to get a good item set. I also like the weapon upgrade system with mods. Add Systemshock graphics plus weird mutants and you got a nice timekiller.
I did get stuck couple of times in the graphics so hopefully that does not happen too often.
Challenge stages can a bit annoying as it is mostly timed jumps and at least for me the jump does not feel consistent.
Moros Protocol bietet solide Sci-Fi-Action, leidet aber unter eintönigen, prozentual generierten Leveln, die schnell an Reiz verlieren. Die Atmosphäre ist zwar bemüht düster rüberzukommen, bleibt aber insgesamt mittelmäßig und wenig packend. Für kurze Sessions okay - Langfristig fehlt die Motivation.
Movement is nice and flows well. The problem lies in the stamina meter and the fact that swinging your tiny sword once takes 15% of it. Jumping takes another not insignificant %. It is like our hero has COPD and needs a portable oxygen tank. Couple that with the weak sauce pistol and your recipe is not rising. I really don't like the alien doors that you have to tank on the chin most of the time for the remote possibility of a reward. Occasionally there is a handy barrel around but not often.
This game is such a gem, the art style is amazing, the soundtrack is neat.
The levels chambers are smallish but packed with enough action, it's fun to think about your route.
you've got mutators for your weapons and armor...
So far it's a great game!
weapons don't feel good to use, enemies aren't fun to fight, the variations in the stages aren't interesting, the upgrades, while constant, don't change up the gameplay in a noticable or unique way. I know most rogue-likes/lites/whateverthef#%ks tend to be a bit grindy and skinnerboxy in general, but avoid unless you absolutely and unconditionally love these kinds of games.
