In a distant future, Mankind has nearly exploited all of the natural resources of our exhausted planet. As various resource wars flare up, nations begin forming alliances in order to arrive at a better solution than simply fighting to the last. A solution is found: the MoonBase probe. Remotely controlled by a single pilot, the probe lands on the surface of any available planet, replicates its central Hub, and expands across the planet in search of life-giving energy. The already fragile alliance crumbles as its leaders recognize the potential of the probe. Four factions arise from the ashes of a fallen alliance--each with its own objectives. What started as a tool to harvest resources has now been forged into a deadly weapon of war. You begin as a pilot for your chosen faction. As you operate your Hub remotely, you wage a campaign across each planet, searching for energy-rich pools while destroying anything that would dare to take your hard-earned resources.

This is a fantastic game that I bought on CD back in the day, and have turned numerous friends on to over the years. Thrilled that it's now available on GoG.
TIP: Be sure to download the indispensable companion utility Moonbase Console, a configurable random map generator for Moonbase Commander that even works in multiplayer, increasing the already-high replay value of this fine game. Highly recommended.
My dad got me this game years ago, when I was a kid. I used to play it all the time with my brother. I started playing again, and it's still as fun then as it is now.
This game is perfect for LANs and even works with multiple people all at the same PC.
I love the mechanics of this game, and have not seen anything similar in a while. Don't let the "Humongous" fool you, it's an amazing game.
P.S. It works great in Wine in Linux.

This is one of the games I bought as a kid. I loved the story and the unique gameplay so much that I even created my own version (Critical).
The only thing I thought was missing was special units or powers for each faction. Only the graphics are differentiated for each.
Simply one of the best Strategy games ever made. Easy to learn... even for little ones. Gameplay is G rated and will run great on almost any hardware... Old or new. Buy MoonBase Commander here and get it DRM-free!
I am surprised that this game didn't spawn any sequels or clones, honestly. This is a solid game that has a lot of replay value. Well worth picking up.
