Might and Magic® 6-pack Limited Edition

I was happy to see this pack for sale. I was especially excited to see that it included 'Might and Magic Book One: The Secret of the Inner Sanctum'. It seems many reviewers haven't played this game. That is too bad. If you haven't played it, I suggest you give it a try. Sure it uses very dated style, but then this was one of the predecessors in the field. Other great games like 'Eye Of the Beholder' and the latter (V, VI, ..) 'Ultima' games get a lot of attention, but I think if you give MM Book 1 a little time you'll find there is still a shine to this old gem. Keep it up GOG, you're doing an awesome job!

I have no idea how I missed M&M. Let's just say, better late than never! I enjoyed the Eye of the Beholder series, Wizardry 7, Ultima, Daggerfall, and several others, and this title rates right up there with those. I'm currently playing World of Xeen and it's a delight. It's like a perfect combination of several games that I loved. -It's character development complexity lies between Eye of the Beholder (Basic) and Wizardry 7 (very complex). -The graphics have a certain kind of colorful charm that ages very well. -The gameplay is pretty deep. To get the most out of the game you will need a well-balanced party that covers combat, thieving, spell casting, and healing. Players can get exhausted and/or diseased,so the party must eat and sleep to stay alive. Searching all around has yielded my party extra weapons and armor to sell or keep. I'm rambling but let me just say straight out, it's a great RPG. They don't really make 'em like this anymore, an that's a shame. I would pay $60 for a World of Xeen style game with Legend of Grimrock graphics. Anyone who missed this game in the 90's must get it now. Anyone who is too young to have been playing games in the 90's must get it now as a great introduction to that vibrant era of RPG's.

Even though I was playing video games for a long time,I didn't play role playing games. And in the year 1998,this was my entry game to genre. And it was such a wonderful entry. I enjoyed everything about this game, every step was exciting. Graphics, gameplay, music and sound effects are all so harmonious in this game. From Fireball to Armageddon spell every spell in this game was so much fun to cast. Flying over the lands, being real low level trying to run away from Titans,exploding chests... So many joyful memories. If you never played the game before its graphics may look dated to you, but if you get used to it you will enjoy this great game even today. It has more content and much better than many supposedly open world rpgs of today.

I played MM6 in 1990s (the era before internet) and I finished this game few times, but before I did that I visited whole map and did plenty of notes. I did my own game wiki on paper before wiki idea successfully made to internet. I bought this game just for the warm feeling of returning to my youth. Not to play it. Just to add it to my collection. I still have great memories of hundreds of hours sunk into this game.

Here we have a classic RPG hack'n'slash'nexplore formula that hits the pleasure zone again and again. Simple in that everything is laid out in a farily striaghtforawrd way. Unlike Realms of Arkania, the RPG system is fairly straightforward. Where things get complex is in how advancing levels and finding treasure are done in a myriad of ways. There are so many tough, unique dungeons with different monsters, you're pretty much staring down at least 100 hours of game. 4,5 and 6 alone could be desert island experiences. I also love how your adventuring party evolves and you grow incredibly attached to them through their epic journey. There's enough of a plot and direction so you never feel totally lost, but there's also enough freedom so that you really do feel like you're just on this massive and epic romp! These games have style to burn, as well, with great, hand-drawn art-direction. You can tell the people who made these games poured their souls into the them. Masterpieces, one and all.
