A good game if you appreciate the genre
Despite the bad reviews I decided to try the game for myself. I completed the first task so far and I like it. The combat is not so bad as people describe it in the comments. This must be added to your games if you are a fan of Point N' Click puzzle games of the past. Enjoy :)

Wie aus der „Das Schwarze Auge“ Ecke
Die Grafik ist mittelmäßig aber immerhin kein Kästen zählen. Die Kampfschwierigkeit lässt sich runter setzen – mit System geht es aber auch so. Das eigentliche Spiel ist dann eher wie Point & Click – Sachen finden, kombinieren und Rätsel lösen. Mehrfach saß ich fest aber nie sehr lange und die Handlung ist gelungen. Zum Schluss wird einem gesagt, wie viele Punkte man von 500 hatte und wo der Speicherstand ist um diesen in einem kommenden Teil hochzuladen. Meine kurze Recherche findet keine weiteren Teile der Mage’s Initiation Reihe.

An Excellent Homage to a Classic Genre
I loved this game - a throwback to similar titles from the 90s and early 2000s, Quest for Glory most of all. The puzzles were fun, the dialogue was entertaining, the world the game developers designed was unique and creative (with a lot of interesting lore). I hope they continue to make titles in this series! The only frustrations for me were: a) sometimes it wasn't clear that dialogue was going to pop up when I entered a new area and I'd accidentally click past it, with no option to recap what was said and b) there were times when the player entered a sort of mini-game with its own rules and they were not always well-telegraphed. Small gripes, though, in what was otherwise a thoroguhly enjoyable experience! I highly recommend this game to fans of the adventure/RPG genre.
