Mad Max

I don't know why i never bought this before, great looking graphics, good story, its like playing a mad max movie this is what all movie tie in games should hope to be

Just think about Psi-Ops, Mafia 1 [oryginal] or Max Payne. Great games with great story with amazing gameplay. This game is same, amazing, belive me. Not like "movie-to-game" Call of Duty or war without soul like lastest Battlefield 2042. You have good story, good feeling of character, good gameplay, good optimisation and even balacned gameplay for everyone. Want collect things and use open world? Sure. Want do linear gameplay? Sure. Serious, people will know that game is legend in next 10 years, like these games at begining. Fun with physics - check Fun with fighting like Batman Arkham City - check Fun with cars like Flatout/1nsane but even higher level of fun - check Progress lvl but not overhelming - check Information about world for people who really world of Mad Max - check For me this game is gold balance of many things and if You adult person who dont like "ADHD games" then buy it, serious. This is dynamic but not overhelming gameplay. [I have game on Steam for information]

Finally a movie game worthy of it's namesake. It's a really underrated game, that anyone should have in their library. It is really a great game, and I enjoyed every second of it. Sure there are bugs.. but nothing truly annoying (none that I've found at least) The graphics is great, but there are some areas where glitches appear (holes, gaps between polys or wrong texture size) but those are rare, and not sure most would even notice like I do. The soundtrack is fitting, the story is Mad Max level.. and should be taken as such. The ending while rewarding, is somewhat bad, and is the only real deviation from a typical Mad Max movie. You'll see it if you play the game (which I think you should). I also think they missed an opportunity here. Had they added selectable weapons. Like an extra weapon of choice, that could be exchanged, traded etc.. and "borrow" a few items from Fallout. They could have a true Fallout competitor here. It would've been somewhat ironic, considering the first Fallout actually did have working cars. So having some of the modern aspects of fallout included in this game, would've been truly epic. Don't know if they will make a sequel to this game.. I kind of doubt it. The ending works, and the game is OK as a single installation. Word of advice; Some things in this game, isn't suitable for younger kids. You've been warned. Get this game.. it is that good.

TL; DR: Most elements are taken from other games and the few new ones are shallow or dumb. Also a lot of padding. On foot combat is taken from the Arkham series of games. Later on to raise the difficulty, the number of enemies increases, but since you don't really have ways of fighting bigger groups at the same time, the fights get tedious. The map has some interesting ideas, but everything stays shallow and a wasteland gets boring after a while. Vehicle combat is the highlight, but that is also nothing we haven't seen before and gets repetitive after a while. There are also some bad design choices. While on foot in tight spaces and sometimes while driving, fighting the camera is a bigger challenge than fighting the actual enemies. The main goal of the game is to upgrade your new car, because Max's old one gets taken again. First I thought this could be interesting, I wonder where they will go with this? Well, turns out nowhere. You go around helping cardboard cutout NPCs to unlock new parts for your car. The way you help also doesn't change from the start, so it's just endless chores. Max's madness is somewhat touched on connected to character progression, which was a neat idea, but that goes nowhere and even stops being a topic after you reach the highest character rank, which is like halfway into the game. There is also a friendly dog that helps you clear minefields. How this works is you drive around with a specific car with the dog on the back. When a minefield is in the area, the dog starts to bark and point in the direction of the mines. Incredible nose on that dog by the way, smelling a buried mine from a moving car and from several hundred meters. As you get closer, the barking changes until you get very close to a mine and it is marked and you can deactivate it. While the barking is still ongoing. So they've managed to include a dog into gameplay that is both stupid and annoying. Oh, and this must be done for some of the car part unlocks.

Upon release many have commented on the basic gameplay and mechanics of Mad Max and having currently played it, i totally agree that it's a basic game to get on sale, and that is it. Think Borderlands lite, without the color, fun, and weapons. Throw in some batman melee moves since it's the same studio that does Batman, and you you have Batman in Borderlands lite. The good. Visually its very nice especially the electrical wind storms and cars/landscape. Sadly those things really don't mean much in terms of gameplay, where the game is lacking. The bad. Many things. The game is a huge fetchquest, roaming about the same areas collecting scrap to upgrade your skills/car/person/strongholds. About the world are a few things to do such as bringing down enemy towers and snipers, looting another scrap location, using balloons to scout the area, some racing areas to race vehicles. While doing that you dodge or destroy the enemy cars roaming the map. You don't have many weapons either on your car or on Max. He has a shotgun and his fists and can pick up a melee weapon to bash enemies, that is it. No great weapon mechanics like in Borderlands. Hand to hand combat is some copy paste moves from the Batman games which is basically punch and block with some finisher moves. Enemy cars are always faster than you, you never seem to be able to outrace them so you need to learn to cripple or destroy them which thankfully is easy because your going to fight 1000 of them while playing. Enemy bases involve you going in to fight some more hand to hand combat, and more fetch questing to find loot and items to collect. It isn't a great game, it incorporates lots of mechanics and feel from better games like Borderlands, Batman, Fallout and sadly doesn't shine close to those mechanics in games that do it better. Play the first stronghold, clear out all the maps to build it up, and after sooo long grinding and fetching, realize that you still have 2+ more strongholds to do. Ick.
