"less shocking content"
Interesting story. Literary pacing. Basically, the only real issue I had with the demo - which I reviewed at a generous 4 - was that it could have gone way further. The main influences are Clive Barker, Bataille, and newer Lovecraftian fiction, so it was a weird omission. I found out on inquiry this is a kind of mass-market version of an older game, and they've self-censored their own work; not just offered a sanitized version, the other seems to be unavailable now. This would be a better product to offer the option to choose for the game to match the thematic content; or, to at least offer people the option of purchasing both products. 3d graphics and video game characters getting it on seem less the issue however than watering down an artistic statement. Maybe just offer a free age-verified separate patch?

Irreführende Produktbeschreibung
Leider ist das hier angebotene Spiel nicht das Original von Anfang 2021. Das Original hat 4-5 Sterne verdient und u.a. den genannten Award gewonnen. Ich hätte gerne das Original auf GOG gekauft, aber es handelt sich hier um eine zensierte Version. In der englischen Produktbeschreibung [1] kann man zu dieser Erkenntnis gelangen. Offenbar möchte man diese Tatsache gezielt verschleiern, denn in der deutschen Produktbeschreibung fehlt dieses essentielle Detail. Das man mit dem Award für diese zensierte Version wirbt, ist illegal. Es wird zudem von GOG aktiv als 18+ Titel beworben, obwohl der Titel ein 15+ Rating hat, sonst würde GOG dieses Produkt wie üblich hinter Geoblocking verstecken! Kurz und Knapp, die Produktbeschreibung ist irreführend mit Vorsatz. [1] " Changes in the M Edition The original Lust from Beyond is an Adult Only experience. Ganz OK, aber zensiert
Wegen der Zensur sind es nur drei Sterne, der Rest wurde nur entsprechend angepasst um die Logik zu bewahren. Das Spiel ansich ist ganz OK. Es ist ein Horrorspiel mit nackter Haut. Eventuell ist es dadurch auch etwas stärker gehyped. Der Anfang geht mit Rätseln los, für die verschiedene Dinge angeschaut und verwendet werden müssen. Ein Kampfsystem ist nur in Grundzügen vorhanden, daher ist der häufigste Weg das Weglaufen. Zur "not Mature" M Edition: Ja, hierbei handelt es sich um die zensierte Version. Jeder z.B. in Deutschland muss sich im Klaren sein, dass es mit der USK keine ungeschnittene Version gegen wird - nicht nur von diesem Spiels. GoG hat das Original auch im Angebot, jedoch nicht in Deutschland! Das Schlechtmachen dieses Spiels hierwegen ist daher an der falschen Stelle. Ich muss allerdings zugeben, dass die Zensur deutlich gekennzeichnet werden muss. ----- Because of the censorship, it only gets three stars; the rest has been adjusted accordingly to maintain logic. The game itself is quite OK. It's a horror game with bare skin. Perhaps that's why it's a bit more hyped. It starts with puzzles that require looking at and using various objects. The combat system is only basic, so the most common way to escape is to run away. Regarding the "Not Mature" M Edition: Yes, this is the censored version. Everyone in Germany, for example, must be aware that the USK will not allow an uncut version - not only of this game. GoG also offers the original, but not in Germany! Therefore, criticizing this game for this reason is out of place. I must admit, however, that the censorship should be clearly marked.

A little bit crude?
Hmm.... not saying I wouldn't ever play (have watched previews and bits of walkthroughs) but if the developers truly wanted to create a "tastefully tailored" game why not just create a different game for a different audience? It's simply not a "tastefully tailored" game (their words) in any stretch of the imagination nor from any perspective whatsoever so why bother with the ommissions. Like art, it either is good or it isn't (or anywhere in between the two) depending on the "eye" of the beholder, not necessarily the creator.
