Story with a colorful gameplay

First thing that you notice - are the in-game colorful beauties of nature, followed by the music. Second is the storyline - at the beginning, a pretty insteresting story as you just start to discover everything. But be aware, the story later starts to turn into a emotional rollercoaster with a pretty satisfying ending to me. Third, the animals - it takes a few seconds to catch up with the controls of certain animals, but after that you enjoy every run, flight or dive with a good choice of wonderful animals. Overall - there is a lot of pretty nature to explore thru this decent storyline, with some fun collectibles along the way. At certain points, I feel like the storyline could be a little more better. The running around the map is also a bit tiring in certain parts of the story. My personal best in the game - pretty nature and animals, I didn't find the storyline too interesting. If you love running and exploring pretty nature and animals with a simpe storyline, this game is for you.

Do not use a keyboard & mouse

Yeah, you can use keyboard and mouse, but I hope you like the space bar. You will need to tap the space bar to flap the wings of the duck. EVERY TIME. Apparently, ducks can only fly up to 4 feet off the ground. To get any higher you will need to find a higher perch and take off, and you will need to tap the space bar to MAINTAIN altitude. Batman moves better than a duck, even without the grapple boost. And there is a hummingbird that actually flies well, and does not need you to tap space bar to maintian altitude. And the collectables... There are 77 unique artifacts. Neat! 5 legendary animals. Sign me up! And 4 or 5 types of mushroom. 20+ each type. Not so neat. And the walls. They like to wall off areas so you cannot climb some areas as a wolf. But no walls to prevent you from falling to your doom. Yeah, that cliff you fell off that you couldn't see since your view was obsured by those bushes you were in. It is a pretty game but needed more QA.

A lil buggy, but beautiful!

Ok, you don't want to play this game for it's story... Honestly it was a bit predictable. However, the graphic quality of the world built, and the fact you get to roam these beautiful landscapes as a variety of animals, is why you want this game! It's astonishingly beautiful. The game can be finished in 4 hours, supposedly. However, I took so much time wandering around and exploring that it took me closer to 8. There's enough to explore that you won't get easily bored. If you bum-rush this game to get the story, you'll probably be disappointed. As I said, the story isn't that glamorous. So, if you're wanting to kill a few hours and immerse yourself in beautiful surroundings and wonderful relaxing music, then this could be worth your money. There are are couple of times that bugs caused me to have to restart at the last checkpoint... That was annoying. It wasn't super clear how I was to proceed all the time, and then to get lost and trapped in a buggy area and have to restart can be frustrating. (You don't lose any collectables you find, but have to retrace your steps on the main path) I was still able to get so much enjoyment out of the game despite these few hangups. If a bug-free experience is what you're looking for then maybe avoid this one. If you can look past the bugs like I did then you'll really enjoy this experience. And that's what this game is, ultimately: an experience. There's no enemies, no health-bar. Just you, the animals, and the surroundings. The surroundings are beautifully engaging and detailed. It's what you want the game for. If you find that appealing then grab it when it's on sale and enjoy!

Solid game

It has a great story that is told in a walking simulator. It feels nice to switch between animals with their unique movements, but the walking times are quite long when not using the default animal. There are some bugs, but its easy to see beyond them.

Zu oberflächlich

Ich hatte Lost Ember schon seit Kickstarter im Blick und war dann auch sehr erfreut, dass es doch bei gog rauskam. Ich kann das Spiel zum derzeitigen Preis von 30€ aber nur denen empfehlen, die sehr viel Freude am Entdecken einer oberflächlichen Welt haben. Denn das ist definitiv die Stärke von Lost Ember: eine schöne, stimmige Welt, in der man tolle Momente haben kann, wenn man z.B. als Adler die malerische Landschaft in der Luft quert. Leider ist es auch gleichzeitig die größte Schwäche, denn auch wenn man in regelnmäßigen Abständen auf Tiere trifft und viele Pflanzen die Welt bevölkern, wirkt sie auf mich sehr öde und leer - für mich kam nie das Gefühl auf, mich in einer lebendigen Welt zu bewegen. Hinzu kommt, dass sich das entdecken der Welt auch nicht wirklich lohnt, ich zumindest hatte schnell die Motivation verloren nach Pilzen und dem x-ten uninteressanten Artefakt zu suchen, da sie mir das Gefühl gegeben haben, damit ein weiteres kleines Fragment dieser Welt entdeckt zu haben. Stattdessen habe ich mich irgendwann nur noch auf die Handlung konzentriert, was das Spiel dann aber recht "schlauchig" macht, die aber eine schöne, kleine und anrührige Geschichte erzählt, die auch sehr gut vertont ist. Fazit: Schade dass die Entwickler zwar eine tolle, aber leider nur sehr oberflächliche Welt geschaffen haben.
