A that I grow with it in Strategygames:)
I love that game, I love that gameplay system and how you can upgrade make a bigger Maschine. That is one of my favorite games ever. :) It sad that is no new version coming out of that game. That would be interessting.

Nostalgic fun
This is an old-school "strategy" game and one of those niche products that sometimes came as a free addition glued to the cover of a gaming magazine. (The nostalgia is definitely strong with this one.) The arguably best piece is the humor delivered during the intermissions, which do have a great entertainment factor. While the unit graphics and voices were already dated by the time the game was released, the soundtrack, on the other hand, is a masterpiece you are certain to enjoy. It alone might be worth shelling out 2 bucks if you can get the game on a sale. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the actual gameplay. Your enemy in KKND2 will simply continue to produce the same units and send them down the same scripted paths until it runs out of resources. Meaning, to call anything that happens a "strategy" is a bit of a stretch. The way to beat a mission is thus usually rather obvious and the only thing that might stop you from doing just that is the insane number of units the enemy has right from the start, thus forcing you to advance slowly. While it may be true that other titles of the time had similar short comings, KKND2 is one of those games that often enough feels like it isn't even trying. Last but not least, since this is an "old-school" game, there are ye good olde cheat codes available, adding to the already great nostalgia factor (and reducing potential frustration).

Could be better, could be worse.
I am very gratefull that the game made it into the GOG store and can be played on newer systems now, but there are quite a few issues which dampen the experience. First I had regular blue screens, but that could be fixed by editing the options.cfg file (thx to Makosi's review). Nonetheless the game would still crash to desktop regularly and I would also encounter the mission failed bug very often. This is not game breaking if you remember to save every 5 minutes, but it is annyoing to say the least. I wish they had put more effort into it, yet, for all its flaws, it is still worth the trip down memory lane in my opinion.

Wont run anymore
I grew up playing this, i still have a big box copy. I played 4 years ago and it ran flawlessly. Trying to run the game now even with directplay enabled is impossible. Everytime i start it pops up saying i need directplay enabled..which it is. I've tried installing dx9, i've tried all compatability modes, nothing works. Cant get kknd xtreme to work either. GOG need to take a look at both games to see what the issue is because all the community forums tips dont work

Ich kenne das Spiel aus meiner Jugend daher 10/10 da ich beim Spielen üble Flashbacks bekomme. War damals mega ist heute immer noch mega. Paar mehr Maps wären cool aber bin froh es überhaupt nochmal spielen zu können.
