Different games Indeed!

Well KQ7 is clearly an adventure game.With magnificent cartoon graphics i believe its a classic and can be played forever and ever.With the traditional kq series puzzles,based on many lore fairytales.Excellent sound and speech and relatively easy to play.Unfortunately it is a game made for teenage and younger girls. As for KQ8 is a HUBRID of Adventure with RPG.The caracter is leveling,and the game is based on battles with swords and shields.Relatively good graphics and problematic gameplay mechanics that can be used to it if you seriously decide to play the game.And its a good game that's worth playing but has absolutely nothing to do with the previous KQ series. Buy it and let your kid play KQ7 while you play KQ8.For the price its a definity buy!

KQ7 = Great game ..... KQ8 = Utter crap

Seriously, this is one of the worst pairings of games I've seen on GOG. I know it may not be their choice, but holy crap ... of all the KQ games that exist, KQ7 and KQ8 are about as far apart as you can get. One is lively, cartoonish and set in a bright, bold world with talented voice acting and perfectly matched music. It's FUN. KQ 8 on the other hand, is dull, lifeless, and changed entirely the type of game that King's Quest was -- no longer an adventure game, but a "3D" (I use that term loosely) combat-oriented piece of garbage with some puzzles. I don't even consider it part of the KQ canon. For all intents and purposes, the stories of the royal family of Daventry ended with KQ7 and won't return until TellTale games finally publishes their KQ revamp. As much as I love KQ7 (my second favorite KQ game after KQ6), I simply can't justify spending $10 on just that game. I really wish it was bundled with 4/5/6 or sold on its own.

I grew up with Sierra's games and was really enjoying KQ7 until the end of the 4th Chapter. After numerous tries & restarts I am unable to combine the magic want & scarab. I even searched to see if there was a known glitch or bug. So that's the end of the game for me. As many other's have stated KQ8 is worthless as well. It won't play with Win 8.1, nor under administrator/other settings. It "...stopped working..." when trying to replay the intro (as it doesn't play it to begin with). When I skipped that part and moved onto "New Game" it gets to "Downloading files to hard drive" then "...stopped working..." again. What a waste of money. Very disappointed. I haven't had any issues with other games on GOG until now.

Don't bother

It contains the worst 2 games in the series. Part 8 is not even considered by most to be a KQ game, as you're not playing as a member of the Graham family.
