One of the worst games I've ever played

This game is bad in some many ways. The game is a 3rd person shooter very linear and that's okay, the problem is how bad the gunplay is. Shooting a gun, which is the only thing you got to do in the game, feel horrible. The bullets go where ever they want except where they suppose to. The few occasions in which they land where you are aiming it feels like you are shooting feathers instead of bullets, because of the little damage they do. The AI of your teammates is horrible too. You can give them orders but most of the time they just ignore them and end up right in front of the enemies just to get killed. And when they don't they just stay there without killing or shooting a single enemies (There were some occasions in which they didn't shoot enemies that were right in front of them) The story is also a mess. You are introduced to a lot of charactes that are related to you in some way but you don't know what is your realtion with them. Making all the interactions feel like this game might be a sequel for other game you didn't play. But no, it is not. These were not only one of those few game I wasn't able to finish because of how bad it was, but also one that made me ask for a refund.

One of IO's weaker titles

Certainly not terrible, but generally not great either. The schut is aight, although weapons tend to fire a lot more crooked than you expect, even with very controlled bursts, and crouching... Partners can be idiotic at times. Has a few somewhat terrible stealth sections, mainly the jungle one. I hear the sequel is better. Very. Abrupt. Endings. Game is most likely better in co-op. Kane's daughter looks like they laser scanned a microwaved ham. She was born 40. Ra ra ra ra ra. Ra ra ra ra ra.

Wow, that was pretty bad...

I've heard of the Kane and Lynch series before, but never followed it closely. The plot in particular was supposed to be interesting... Now I bought part 1 during the sale and what can I say: it was the worst game I've had to play in a long time. It is short, gameplay is not fun at all (especially solo) and the storytelling is aweful. The premise of the story is somewhat interesting. Kane, a mercenary in prison awaiting execution, is suddenly freed by his old comrades. They force him to get the loot from their last job together or they will kill his family. Lynch is assigned to watch over him. Unfortunately, this is as far as the "interesting concept" goes. Kane is a cold-blooded murderer who will walk over dead bodies to save his family. In the process, you have to kill lots of innocent people (e.g., policemen, security guards) who have the misfortune to cross his path. Reflection, character development or at least an explanation as to why he became such a person? Not a chance. His psychotic “buddy” Lynch is no better. He even murders unarmed hostages. There is no recognizable moral compass in the story. All the characters are completely unsympathetic and it is difficult to feel anything other than disgust for them. Even then, there could have been an interesting story, but instead you're just chasing after one McGuffin after another. There's hardly any backstory, all the characters are clichéd decals and the cutscenes are never well directed. Moreover, scraps of sentences drenched in self-pity and sad music when Kane is about to die are no good for a character study. The gameplay is also a disappointment. In this 3rd person shooting gallery, you blast your way through hordes of enemies in relatively narrow, tubular and scripted levels. Their AI is rarely very clever. Danger usually arises from the sheer flood of enemies, enemies that are easy to overlook and the miserable cover mechanics. Summary: Not recommended (not even on sale)!

Decent but somewhat interesting

First of all, i'm glad this game can finally be purshased legally and DRM-Free no less. [Actual Review] Really interesting game, not the best by any mean or capacity but interesting enough to keep you hooked through it's story. It's a well made movie-like experience with a great variety of locations and scenarios. The atmosphere feels opressive and dark at times. The Japan levels were the best in my opinion. Something strange I recalled is that the characters just go from one side of the world for another in a matter of just seconds? it helps to keep the pace of the game but come on, it feels kind of lazy. Both protagonist make a good couple, one being sane and the other being a psycho. One is selfish, the other one is loyal and so one. The best of both worlds and it works Both are deeply flawed on their own way. Why is just "Decent" then? Well, the gameplay cannot be more tedious for a shooter. The cover mechanic is not associated to a specific button for some ungodly reason and it's just does it by itself when you are close to a wall. The shooting itself feels janky to say the least, the bullets spread like crazy and you don't much options for a more precise weapon such as a rifle or sniper through the game. Sprinting is non-existential, it last less than 5 seconds if you are lucky and the sprint isn't like a huge difference from walking either. The Team mechanic is a mixed-bag it can serve on some specific ocassions but most of the time you ended up killing yout target before your team does most of the time. Most of the unique mechanics to this game don't flesh out that much really through the journey. Stealth is close to non-existent, specially in the Jungle levels when there is an incentive to use it. You will ending up shooting everyone without consecuence anyways. Conclusions: Interesting game, but it's not much of a fun ride, but it doesn't need to be it either. And by the end, you will ended up empty.
