Genuinely one of the best games ever created. In terms of turn based strategy, I can't think of another game that draws you in quite as much as this. One of the greatest underrated games ever made.

Best game ever made. I've played it since 1999, when my feet could not touch the floor yet while sitting on my computer chair. Still play it. Install 1.13, remove all the autistic features that you don't like. Lots of replayability when you turn on randomize merc stats. Another thing I like to do is decrease mine income drastically and finance mostly by selling stuff. That way you need to keep moving and can't just sit and train your mercs. Also real men and women play ironman (you need a backup save slot though for occasional crashing).

The game looks interesting but sadly it is not working. I would expect games on GOG to work out of the box on modern computers (has been my experience so far).

The greatest tactics game ever made, you have to experience this to understand just how amazing it really is. Massive game (especially with the v1.13 mod) with so many possibilities, tactics and characters. Truly the pinnacle of military tactics games rivalled only by the original XCOM series.

Your team is holed up in a small house surrounded by heavily armed villains. You are VASTLY outnumbered. They are closing in. Peering & shooting through windows, storming through the front door. And even though you use your Quickload button to make sure every bullet finds a head, you are slowly forced to retreat towards the only room without windows: the bathroom. Can you hold your ground... the bathroom, that is? Great times.
