Indiana Jones® and the Fate of Atlantis™

There is so much about this game that is impressive, and only minor problems. To get the latter out of the way, this IS an adventure game from 1992, so there will probably be times where you are banging your head against the desk trying to find what you're supposed to be doing to continue if you choose the puzzle path. That said, this game somehow managed to have branching paths based on gameplay preference! You can brawl your way through the game or have no combat at all, and the puzzles are usually pretty decent and not too obscure. The art in this game is wonderful and holds up well, as does the music, voice acting, and dialogue, but the best part is the story with its grand adventure alongside your partner. It very much feels like an Indiana Jones movie with its starting race to beat the Nazis growing into mystery and dread, especially when it comes to the end. This is perhaps the best example of the adventure game genre when you consider it as a whole. Other games are funnier (though there are good jokes here), but this game screams epic adventure like few others.

this game is awesome. now it´s 30 years old. I played it back then, and loved every bit of it. Now, 30 years later, I gave it another try.. and what can I say? It still grips me with it´s humor, the art style, the gameplay.. I STILL know how to solve the first hour of the game, still remember the scenes, even where the game gives you different options on how to solve a situation... I think that says it all about how great an impression the game made on me. For those who never played it: Good animations, superbly colored backgrounds, funny dialogue,.. what more do you want from a game? Just play the first 10 minutes.. if it catches you, you´re sold ;) This game is gold, one of the best.

Man this game is such a classic and it would have made a great movie adaptation. I played this game way back in the day on my 486 PC and it was such an awesome game - great storytelling, characters and plenty of Nazi scum...what more could you want from an Indiana Jones adventure? I highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone who is a fan of Indiana Jones - this is hands down a must play!

First time I played Indiana Jones and the last Crusade on the Amiga 2000. Yeah, you got it ... it was shipped on 11 disks and was a pain to play. And the port was lousy as hell, you could see that LucasArts didn't put any hope in the Amiga's future. Luckily I owned a bridgeboard so after a few hours of disk swapping (even with 2 drives) I installed it on a 20 MB hard drive. Still it was nothing to look forward to, the port was lousy. A short time after that, I got my hands on a x286 and one of the first things I did was to get this game and play it. What a revelation. Sure, the sound and music quality sucked (I was used to Amiga music which was the best at the time), but the rest was great. Years later, when I finally got a Soundblaster card (and later a Maestro for General Midi), the first thing I did was of course play this game again. Now with acceptable music quality it was even better. At this point, I must have played this game at least 20 time (each possible way a couple of times). I don't know why I keep returning to this game, only a few weeks ago I played through it again (I lost count a long time ago). It just feels right, exactly what I expect from a point & click adventure. No other game (no, not even the Monkey Island games) can keep up to it. I just wished the voice samples of the talkie version would have higher quality. Since it was released on CD anyway, i don't understand why they didn't use better samples. If you play it these days, make sure you install VirtualMidiSynth and some good orchestral sound fonts, since the Windows Midi quality is awful.

"Fate of Atlantis" ist mMn der beste Teil der Point & Click Adventure-Reihe von Indiana Jones. Farbenfroh, voll von Rätseln (von leicht bis etwas schwereren) und man kann mehrere Wege begehen, so das man es auch gerne noch ein zweites, drittes oder sogar viertes mal spielen möchte.
