Very underestimated RPG
It's a very underestimated RPG, possibly due to previous, somewhat worse ID1. ID2, like its predecessor, is more battle oriented than BG1-2 or PT, but it's still very interesting RPG game. It's less linear, less focused on main quest line, has more side quests and a bit more flexibility in completing your goals, compared to ID1. The music by Inon Zur is on par with Jeremy Soule's tracks from ID1, and locations you'll be exploring are even more beautiful (these hand painted backgrounds just don't get old). The story is also more interesting than in ID1 and you can find echoes of ID1 events here (It's nice to see that things my original ID1 party did several dozens years ago influenced current situation in some way, not always for better). Definitely worth a play. Just a word of caution. If you select higher resolution, you may encounter freezing cutscene in the haunted forest. If it happens, just set native (the lowest) resolution temporarily and it'll work. It's real shame we won't get official Enhanced edition of ID2 like ID1, BG1-2 and PT had.
Hilft dir das weiter?
