Unique gaming experience. Must buy.

I played the demo version, now started first level of full game. I think that overall shooting experience has been improved and feels very good. Weapons have power and enemies are answering well for the bullets. I started on hard and I it seems that I need to focus, especially of health running out and lacking medkits. This kind of gameplay really pushesh the player to best performances. Blood, bodies and all the mess seems to remain on the floor long enough (I didn't see level beaing cleaned after a while but I cannot tell it is not happening yet). This adds more to overall atmosphere. But what about how this game looks and feels? It is exatly what you can see in trailer or official screenshots. Game with grim atmosphere while providing humor and good shooting. Decent gameplay, interesting setting mixed with humour and some historical referencess. Must buy.

Drink, get drunk and burn them all...

You won't get lost on the maps because everything flows organically, like DOOM (1993) and even better. You can drink to increase your health and if you drink too much you will get drunk, hehe. XD Then use the same bottle to set the communist bums on fire. Some things remind us of Quake (classic): Color palette and some enemies, and finally, nothing else reminds us of Quake, as HROT follows its own path in many things. Honestly? It is a mistake to compare it with Dusk, as Dusk makes several mistakes when trying to copy Quake, and it is far from being an optimized game, due to the fact that it uses the Unity engine. HROT runs on any potato and uses an engine created by the developer himself in the Pascal language. Anyway, there are three chapters with lots of action and a great arsenal of weapons, there's even a dog to help you in one of the chapters. XD Buy HROT and avoid Dusk!

An Excellent Retro Shooter

This game is like Quake and STALKER put together. A very grim atmosphere, gritty textures that hearken back to simpler gaming times like half-life 1 & Soldier of Fortune 1. A dark ambient track that is creepy without being uncomfortable. A fast paced gameplay mechanic with kicking, shotguns and running everywhere blasting away. And in between the run&gun there are little nods to soviet politics, notes to find, collectables and grenades to throw. While the price seems a little steep, it's certainly worth playing.

good

it was just kinda worse version of Dusk (and yea, sure, quake). Still very enjoyable, I liked the setting and the atmosphere, some cool sceneries here and there. Level design was neat, nothing extraordinary, just solid. Cool game.
