Good game, but too long for my taste
I like my metroidvenias to be around 4-6 hours long. This game is 15+ hours long. Don't get me wrong, this is a good game. The movement is smooth and responsive, the enemies are challenging, the bosses are fun (for the most part, the watcher knights fight dragged), the presentation is top notch, but its just too long.

Overrated game. Combat is decent. World building is boring. Level is tedious. Forgettable characters.

If you like frustration, go for it.
There are hundreds of people here that'll tell you how beautiful (audio nd visuals) this game is. They're not wrong. But honestly, it goes all to hell when you have to backtrack A LOT - very often going blind into the unknown. Map will not update until you'll find a bug who is selling maps and you have to do it in every new location. Lore is gibbrish spread everywhere so to put it all together better start writing your own journal, You can buy a few markers for your map but good luck remembering which is which as they're only colours and not something you can write on. This game is a challenging platformer but difficulty should be a reflection of your skill, searching for stuff, backtracking and wasting my time is not something I want to do in a game. Shame, what a waste of potential.

Very good, but...
First of all, if you like metrovanias this is a must have title. Game is well worth its price tag. Atmosphere is amazing, graphics and music as well. For me the issue with the game is that some bosses are just made "cheap". What I mean by this is they aren't all that hard, but the way they are scripted makes them very hard to beat. For example they will run to where you have to land, jump when you jump, that naturally makes it very hard not to get hit. Some bosses were just so lame that I haven't even finished the game, it was not worth my time anymore. There are certain bosses which have complex attack pattern, and you have a split second for reaction, you just get in the zone and do it. Then there are these lame bosses that just counter what you are doing, they are not impossible to beat, but the way they were scripted is MY issue with them. That aside, the whole game leading up to those points is just fabulous and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I'm giving it a mediocre 3 stars in hopes devs or anyone relevant finds this comment and changes how the development of next installment might go!
