Hitman: Codename 47

^ Few other games will make you grumble under your breath in frustration like this game will. The premise is sound, the execution is spotty at best. Some missions are ridiculously easy and over incredibly quickly, with only a single objective, whereas others will drag on for a couple dozen minutes as you painstakingly attempt to carry out a perfectly executed sequence of events in the right order, without alerting a single soul. One mistake and you'll very likely have to restart the entire mission all over again. The latter example is where the fundamental problem with the game's design comes to the foreground - the programming and coding for this game is sloppy. REAL sloppy. Inconsistency in multiple areas of the two most important parts of a stealth game: the A.I, & the physics. E.g: Enemies will see bodies through walls or platforms above their line of sight, or at other times will ignore corpses right in front of their very eyes. Enemies unaware of your presence will suddenly turn around and sound an alarm as soon as you pull out a weapon (even the 'stealthy' piano-wire!). Other times they simply won't. Pathfinding is chaotic at best - I've experienced situations where enemies that patrol have desynced their regular patterns with one another, to the point where it was literally impossible for me to remove one from the equation without another witnessing it. For some reason, Agent 47 always massively prioritises stripping his victims over dragging them away. Direct headshots don't always kill, even on enemies with no head protection. Have fun climbing up to the top of a ladder and then falling through the earth into oblivion (and meeting instant death). It is these problems that dampen the ahead-of-its-time concept from realising it's potential, and thus the game has not aged well, at all. Even when eveything comes together for a mission, you know the next experience will be a crapshoot once again. I cannot recommend this game. It is not fun, it is frustrating.

Hitman: Codename 47 is a difficult game. That isn't to say it's not good; it is, but it took me literally a year to beat. You play as Agent 47, a member of the International Contract Agency, or ICA. You must use all your wits and skill to perform the contracts assigned to you by the Agency (because if you don't you'll get killed off before you can say John Rambo), avoiding detection and collateral damage at all costs. It starts off fairly simple; a rooftop snipe here, a car bombing there, but quickly escalates into nightmarishly difficult tasks such as taking out a Chinese crime lord who resides in his strangely massive restaurant or even disarming a nuclear bomb, all the while uncovering a conspiracy closer to home than 47 thinks. There are a couple of missions that force you to go loud, but only a couple, one of which isn't too bad. The graphics are bad by today's standards, but the style is fantastic and they were cutting edge when the game was released. The game also features a fantastic (if a little small) soundtrack by the renowned Jesper Kyd, who now composes for the Assassin's Creed series. It's incredible value for money, particularly if you're a fan of the franchise and want to see where it started, but be warned: the difficulty even on easy is obscene. Pick it up only if you don't mind having bald patches on your head.

Hitman Codename 47 is not the game it initially appears to be. This is an immersive puzzle solving game, with not super great controls. I went in expecting a game similar to Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, do not make my mistake. I had a lot of frustration and early quit moments until someone else pointed out the game is less about assassination than it about navigating mission using the fairly restrictive options. With a new perspective, I started to really enjoy how Hitman sets you up with a target and challenges you to find ways around the obstacles it throws at you.

Hitman is a great serie ; i enjoyed every single chapter of it, even Absolution. This is the beginning, the first entry in what will be one of most known videogame franchises. The game is difficult ; there is no saving in middle of the missions and so you have to complete them in a single shot. This brings the game to a "brutal" trial and error mechanism ; which is typical of the serie but here you can't save progress. Though i like Hitman, the first chapter didn't age very well ; in graphics yeah , but in gameplay too. Playing this today feels too clunky and constricted for me. for many gameplay choices. This doesn't happen , for example , with hitman 2 , which is ( obviously ) a more mature product. I think that if you liked Blood Money and want to try an early chapter of the serie, Hitman 2 is the way to go.

I remember playing the game back in the day and it was AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, the gog version isn't as good for me. I'm trying to play this awesome game on my new system (athlon ii x4 635, ati radeon 6870, windows 7 ultimate) but the game has issues: the keys often get "stuck" or delayed a lot and sometimes my inputs just don't trigger. Please fix.
