Refreshing Gem
This game is like Monkey Island without the frustration. It's chicken soup on a cold day. It's cards with your grandma. It's the good old days as a game.

Easy install and no DLM but...
I've played for a couple hours over the course of a week but can't get into the game. The days in the game go so fast, and are so monotonous that it feels like my real life, which is what I was trying to escape in the first place. There isn't enough time in the game to make money to buy the things the game seems to require from you, or to explore and try things out. I don't really understand what the point of it is or what overlying plot is. What's the point? Does it get better? So far I only gave it 4 stars out of respect to the developers. I'll gladly update if I ever try playing again and get to a point that's more bearable.

A unique experience
Have not played any of the QfG games (I'm firmly in the LucasArts camp), but as a fan of adventure and role playing games in general, I couldn't pass by this unique mix. Two things that stood out to me are the beautiful vignettes the game presents to illustrate various situations as well as the writing. Even though there are many repeating actions, the writing is almost always unique and shows great attention to detail. Both adventure and RPG elements are actually fairly light, but I loved the freedom the game offers and the rewards reaped through thorough exploration. Initially, I had been worried that the finite time available throughout the semester would force me to rush the game, but time management actually ended up being one of the fun elements. As time is only passing while actively doing stuff, gameplay itself is as slow or fast as you want it to be, but never stressful. So it was mostly deciding on how much time to allot to training, exploring and socializing. I put more emphasis on the latter two aspects, but with plenty of items granting various buffs, I even managed to max out a few of my skills and do well on many others. Difficulty is moderate, and while the game does not hold the player's hand, it's also never unfair or illogical. Exploration and conversation usually yield enough hints to master the challenges the plot throws at you and provide a good deal of backstory on top. All in all, a soothing game that managed to draw me into its enchanting little world.
