A refreshingly different adventure game

I first played and reviewed ‘Her Story’ back in 2015 on Steam. I loved the game so much, and found it so refreshingly innovative that I just bought it again so I’d have a DRM-free copy. Below is my Steam review: ‘Her Story' may not seem like much aesthetically (and intentionally so), but it is one of the most well-designed, well-written, entertaining games I played this year. It has a simple premise of having the player searching through police interrogation videos using keywords to unravel a mystery. It is full of surprises, and I dare not to write more so you can discover them yourself. For the most rewarding way to enjoy 'Her Story', I suggest that you don't read any reviews or wiki entries (no more than you need to to convince yourself to play this game), and don't check out other players' achievement statistics. Just dive right in and play detective.

A Good FMV game!

Her Story is a great game. The game play involves looking through a database of videos. The catch is that only 5 videos are displayed at a time. As you watch videos you have to make notes of keywords. By using keywords in the search engine, you are able to watch more and more videos. The videos are done well, with an amazing actor. I won't say anything about the story to avoid spoilers. Her Story is a unique experience that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the story in games.

Reading between the lines

Speculating, jumping to conclusions and pulling apart a story are all major strategies in this game. It's your job to find the truth or the closest you can come to it. This game rewards careful listening and observation. If you enjoyed the ending of the Usual Suspects, then you will enjoy the way this game flips the narrative.

I adore it

This game made me interested in Indie Games when it came out. I like this alternative storytelling very much, its really reduced and minimalistic. Still it has lots of ambience. I really dislike people in these comments which are afraid of "feministic" gameplay. What a nonesense. Its more Arthouse vs Mainstream.

a good one with interesting topic

first time I played the game I thought it was boring after a while and confusing... I think, I concluded with a clip that the case was solved... but I thought I'd never play it ever again... that's how disappointed I was... meanwhile, I watched videos on youtube that deal with the same topic (I had no clue "Her Story" touched on that a lot.) Now, I'm glad that I played it again, as I can appreciate the game for what it is... a rather interesting attempt at touching on that special topic. so... for spoilers, in a way... go to youtube and /watch?v=A0kLjsY4JlU that's where I started on that journey
